The importance of self development cannot be over emphasized.  One who is self developed is combat ready, you can get opportunities and several doors will keep opening.

A lot of unemployed people are unemployed because they're not self developed, being self developed means adding value to one's self

As an individual, for you to make people to respect you and like you, then you must be better tan they are, you must have something that they don't have. This being said self development in this context involves the balanced process of adding more worth and value to one's sef. As an individual it is wrong to just develop yourself in one area and leave the other area out, doing this would simply lead to deficiency. Even God understood the concept of balancing that is why during creation he didn't just create man alone with one leg and eye, rather He created man's counterpart and all of the body parts where balanced.
So if you decides to develop yourself in the area of skills acquisition, also  develop yourself on how to properly channel and use this skill to make more money to take care of yourself and your loved ones. Self development in one area alone is more like doing nothing

Though not all the times it works that way because you can still have money but are not respected unless those that would be influenced with money into becoming there most loyal, I have seen people who doesn't have anything but the respect they have for them are lager than some wealthy people whom money is not there problem, we could say that there are two types of respect, first for money respect and second for a personality respect, however nobody is even in a journey to be respected because is not important.

During the last couple of years I saw the importance in self development and how that can influence in one´s life.

An individual who has invested time into self development will be more valuable and useful to the society than someone who is still finding themselves. someone finding themselves know exactly how they can contribute to the society.
Unfortunately, many people go through life and never find themselves, they are under the influence of society and the people around them. To discover yourself, you have to sometimes spend more time with yourself.

Great, and also surrounding yourself with positive people, people that will help you to bring out the best in you. People that will be benefit you in all angles of life.
That is why it’s good for one to empower or develop themselves in a way they will be of help to themselves and to their society and these kind of individuals are recognized and respected, valued in their society and also be a role model to the young people in their society.
