"Preview" button bug 🐛

Let me start by saying that I've been meaning to make this post since long time ago, like since last year or so, but each, it's skips my mind, possibly because I don't create author threads or use the preview button that often.

Looking at the screenshot I shared above, ya all should already understand what I am driving at, but just incase someone is confused, well, here is the breakdown.

In the process of typing/creating a thread or typing a response to post, when you (maybe & sometimes) decided to preview your post (by clicking the "Preview" button beside the "post" button, the error above shows up, which literally is saying that the message box/body is empty; whereas it isn't as I believe we all can clearly see from the shot I shared above.

I don't know if anyone other user have noticed and complained about this same error before, i didn't find any and it's the reason I am bringing this to the attention of the bosses, I believe this is not peculiar to me right? Let's see how we can fix this please, as sometimes, previewing before posting is really helpful, specifically for a very long posts.

I tried it now with this post, and I did experience that error as well but it showed the preview above. I don't know why it's saying that there's no subject but there clearly is.

I hope this gets fixed.

I've just tested it here and the same error appeared, but the preview is done correctly, it shows everything correctly, which is the important thing

Before now I've always used the preview button both here and on BITCOINTALK too however here on ALTcoins talks, I've never actually experienced this particular issue. Anyways what I decided to preview this my reply first to see if the same error will pop up and of course it did. However just like Crwth said, it actually gave a preview of the reply but still displayed the error message.

Hopefully admin gets to fit it as quick as possible as I believe it may be some bug from the end of the forum since everyone is experiencing same issues. I also urge admin to fix the error message too that displays when you try to send karma I sent like 3 Karma yesterday and about 1 of them still gave the error message.

This is and old unresolve issue. That error shows on topic thread subject with emojis, but it still work if you continue to post it.

This is the same when using the other "Modify" icon in the lower right part, but it work if using the "Modify" button in the upper right part.

Preview didn't appear for me at all as you can see from the shot I included on my post, Top there, you can "No subject" even when there is..

But however, I want to believe that the issue comes and goes, or maybe it only appears when the post is really long, for example, you can see that I was able to preview this reply possibly because it's a short post, but when it's a long one, preview doesn't show up at all, it is only the error above that comes up.

Yes, I have been encountering it myself lately. And it's just as you said, it comes and goes. Sometimes the preview works, sometimes it doesn't, even when the subject is clearly written or the message body contains texts. On top of that, it's only when there is a big post like the screenshot below (I don't recall seeing it with tiny posts). I believe it is an old bug. I had faced this issue many, many months ago. But nobody seems to fix this. TBH, it's kind of annoying because big posts with lots of BBcodes need to be previewed to avoid mistakes! 

Note: I tried to preview this post itself, and this time I had different outcome. It says "No subject was filled in but at the same time the preview worked! WEIRD!".

The problem is the emoji  🐛

Just remove it from the subject (and from the text body), and it will work.

This looks to be some encoding problem. Probably it is not UTF-8, as UTF-8 has valid emoji

Emojis look like images, or icons, but they are not.

They are letters (characters) from the UTF-8 (Unicode) character set.

I have also experienced something similar when using several emoji symbols, such as the following:

When previewed, it will appear as shown in the following screenshot:



However, on Bitcointalk, Preview can still be displayed even using the same example emoji symbol as above. Here are the Preview results on Bitcointalk:
