What happens if someone deleted their account?

I just wondered what happens to someone's post(s) in a thread if they decided to delete their account since it's possible to do in ALTT, all their posts will be deleted as well or their user names will be hidden not their posts like reddit?

Also are you aware that you can delete your account if you want to?

Didn't know account deletion also goes under moderator's radar - running away isn't easy is it ? 

The forum has the right to your posts, unless you choose to delete them manually before deactivating your profile.

As far as I know, an account has never been 100% deleted. I have seen users delete their username, but their posts remain on the forum. Keep in mind that deleting all posts from a user who has been on the forum for years (for example) would be a complete disaster. Many conversations would not be understood well since by deleting posts the thread cannot be followed well. A few months ago a user requested to delete all his posts, but the administrator refused for the reason I said.

It's never likely, I've never heard of complaints in the past about deleting an account completely. Moreover, if the option to delete all posts is activated then it will be a complete disaster. Some people will scam and later delete all their proofs and no one can catch them. This matter will be treated as proof to all. We can't break forum rules and don't want to suggest to admin about unnecessary development. There are many things to keep in mind while running a forum and analyzing the required content according to everyone's needs.

For me, deleting profiles and posts is only justified if they represent a security risk for the person who requests it. There are countries where cryptocurrencies and everything related to them are banned, and someone from such a country would have a good reason to ask for everything to be deleted if they suspected that something bad might happen to them if they were discovered.

However, such requests should be approached individually, because I agree that deleting a large number of posts can leave large gaps in the forum.

This is what I am looking for and this posts serves as a reference too for anyone who wants to delete their account just to get rid of their posts isn't possible unless there's a valid reason that could convince mods but those are exceptional cases.

But from my understanding the standard procedure of deletion only hide the username but doesn't affect what's written by them.

So it's users responsibility to edit out if they entered any info that could affect their privacy.

That's a valid point you have made here. A lot of topics will be useless and there will be a lot of discussions, especially for a person who replies to all of his mentions (like me haha) as sometimes I post on the same thread for more than 4 times too to reply to others and if they got deleted, if I deleted my account, which I did not knew we could do in the first place (thanks to OP as now I know).

There will be really a big confusion. So that's for sure now that we can't really delete all of our posts but only the few which are tool old and which won't cause any huge confusion or scam.

Am also hearing about this for the first time, that one can on his own delete his account without the approval from the moderator, but i still wonder on what kind of reason could warrant for it, i don't know or even have an idea on how it could look like if someone do sop except we see a typical example by anyone who did it, maybe we can have any experience users anytime soon.

I imagine there could be several reasons, but I guess the first one that comes to mind is "anger" on the part of a user who may feel they are not being treated fairly on the forum and decide to delete their account and posts. Or also some "paranoid" user who wants to erase his traces from the forum. I don't know, there could be many more reasons, but I guess those two could be the most common.

That means, deleting an account will only delete the username and data in it, except for posts that have been written...
whereas to delete an account usually someone has a reason to clean up their posts, so I think this is a bit of a solution for some people who make requests, right?

Understandable for many reasons mentioned above. Alternatively, they can manually edit their posts before requesting deletion, though that would be boring as hell to do.

That being said, I think people should expect that whatever they put on the internet stays there forever. There are many screenshots or archive websites nowadays, who knows if someone takes a screenshot of this page over the next few hours or so. If privacy is important then you should never post something that can leak your identity. CMIiW.

I didn't remember this option being there when I created my account, but you can't guarantee that anything on the internet has been deleted after it was posted, as there are many services that may archive posts here or take screenshots. When you delete the account, it becomes a guest and no one may be able to access your private messages or find you easily from search engines.

There is an option to delete account on your profile but I don't know if the feature is working because I have not tried it. And if the person decided to delete the account from the forum it is good and fine, he can do it but I believed the person comments, threads and other activities will not be deleted because those are articles for other people to read and make reference from them.

And also you can only delete your posts when you are still active before you delete your account because once you delete the account then you can do anything again.

This still keeps ringing something on my hearing on why someone will deem feet to decide in deleting his own account, its either he has been posting rubbish over time and wouldn't want to be identified anymore with that or is willing to give up on learning new things as well as leaving crypto, because for having an account here on this forum, i don't think its anything of negativity except the user found in any form of abuse over using one.
