Is it possible to make a short script for Drafting?

Today and past time I faced this after make a post I crossed the browser mistakenly or press the reload button.  And after that I have to re-typed that whole post for posting. I think we will also find more people who were faced these issues.

Anyways, what I am asking to the people who are pro on scripting is it possible to build an option which will save a draft after clicking the preview option or like the auto-save draft ?

Wow, I'm just noticing this that the forum doesn't have an auto draft feature..unlike btt where you preview and your post is automatically saved for some time.its nice you brought this up mate as it's a cool suggestion at that.. what I normally do is that copy my post when writing after a few lines so just Incase something like the case you mentioned happens, I won't have much to worry about. You can also try it yourself or write on a note pad before posting it on the forum so this way you don't have to worry much about reloading your page..

Such a feature will always be good if added by default in this forum for better user experience. I know SMF forum has this kind of feature, maybe admin just disabled it.

If a user script feature is added, it's possible to save it as a cookie, the topic ID, which will serve as a unique ID, and then retrieve it for later use.

This is a great idea to be honest, and I am actually surprised that this feature is not available on this forum yet, I've always thought it was as it's available on bitcointalk.

I that on bitcointalk, ones the preview button is clicked, the text in the message box is automatically saved, I remember a couple of times I will be creating a thread on that forum using my mobile phone, and when things get too complicated, I simply will click the preview button to auto save the post, then turn on my pc and log into my account, click the create new post on my board of interest and simply access the saved preview of my post from the computer, i copy and paste it on the message box and continue typing, very easy and simple..

I don't think this is something that needs a script, it's a feature that admin can easily add like it is on the other forum.

I think it is doable, I can create such solution
 The problem is that few people would download and use it (basically zero)... usrr scripts are not often used.

If it is not requiring the extra server for hosting then I don't think this is that kind of necessary things  to do.

But if not then there will a request for you from me build an script for this one when you are free. I am sure this will be used by good amount of people and also in the futures it will increase.

Maybe it auto synchronizes across platforms. So, it will be available irrespective of the platform you are.

You need to create an account in standard notes.
Then you write your drafts there.

You can log in any platform to see your drafts saved in standard notes.

same here it’s odd that i never really noticed it before i mean i do not use ir that much either as i just type and post but it is only now i realize it doesn’t have the draft feature maybe because in btt there is also only the preview button where it automatically saves into a draft so maybe my brain unconsciously associated the ‘preview’ button as the one for saving drafts

it is inconvenient though especially if for example your internet connection gets lost and you were in the middle of typing something you will just lose it all and you would need to start from scratch it’s not like you can copy and paste every single time that would be so tedious

SMF comes with a Drafts feature so I think @admin has deactivated it to save resources, if there is enough demand it may be reactivated for certain ranks or as a paid feature. I remember there was a discussion about this topic but I couldn't find the link.

Whenever such suggestion came up mostly in the Bitcoin Forum, the technicians debunked the idea and abandoned the suggestion. I can still remember someone has made similar suggestion in Bitcoin Forum. The person was saying let the developers should create undo and redo button if a text mistakenly wipeout when typing. But people disagreed. And some of them are here so the same thing will still happen. Until admin do it on it own.

But if he follows the opinions of the public then, the feature will not be added. Those are some of the good features suit the forums since the forums are purely for typing.

Even so, there are different mods, which according to their programmers are much lighter and logically also consume fewer resources. I was looking for the latest one and this is the one I found:

Allow member groups to save new topics, replies, and polls as drafts by giving them the "Can save topics and replies as drafts" permission.

Thank you for the clarification. I have install that apps and I didn't understand how can I use it and I thought this is may be some like we have to make the post or content here for the drafting.

Since the content is textual, providing an option to save Drafts up to 5 or 10 posts will not consume a lot of resources, and it is not necessary to do so automatically, but rather to save them by simply clicking on the Drafts button, provided that they are deleted once a week. In general, its implementation will be good, but the forum needs a lot of updates.

I'm not sure if these parameters are hardcoded into Altcoinstalks but even if they were they would be easy to change to your numbers, with a little downtime.

Even Bitcointalk had like 20 saved posts or something and up to two weeks' retention period for drafts.

However, admin has made it very clear in some of the older threads about this topic that he does not intend to enable this feature. CMIIW.
