Standard of GameFi projects

 I've seen a lot of GameFi projects but I've not really still seen much that really put a lot of effort into the gameplay aspect, most just focus on the digital currency while making a game that's sad to day...subpar. Why is this so?

For many years, Blockchain game (whether under name Web3, GameFi or other name) already known for having poor gameplay or fun aspect. I would even claim many of them isn't as fun as original angry birds. As for the reason, i believe it's because both creator and it's player only looking for profit rather than having fun.

If one comes from playing quality AAA games, the crypto games just feel lackluster and there is no way these crypto games can compete with those, crypto game developers knowing this, they bother with earn aspect to lure the players.

It's really sad. I don't think you have to make the graphics or gameplay that complicated to make it fun. I believe the fact that monetization is the goal limits a lot. I wonder if this will change if they have good capital. I think VC or investment companies don't have the patience to invest in this kind of thing, at best they'd buy their tokens and sell as soon as they hit the market.

I believe an MMO RPG game can incorporate crypto into their ecosystem, but they'll have to balance the game properly, or else players will leave. CMIIW.

Yeah, a lot of GameFi projects just care more about the money side of things than actually making a fun game. The gameplay usually gets ignored because it’s all about the financials. It’s a shame because a lot of these games end up being more about making money than actually being fun to play.

I think you're referring to the gaming scene during the bullrun 2021, where most projects prioritized "Earn" over "Play", turning gaming into a method to earn token rewards, especially in developing countries. This isn't ideal for the future of GameFi and is being phased out as more traditional gaming companies enter this promising market.

Gameplay should be the primary focus of these projects, rather than a seemingly attractive tokenomics model. They really need to hire more game engineers instead of adding more crypto experts. Once they have a fun, engaging game, integrating crypto will be much easier to attract investors and enhance the game appeal.

That's true. I think it's hard to find developers who prioritize fun even in the general gaming community as of now. At the very least so many AAA games have had terrible launches recently. There are indies but I don't think they would consider developing a crypto-based game since the public isn't keen on crypto based on what I see. I wonder what is the push to make interesting gamefi projects, seems like no one has the answer so far.

Yeah I get you buddy, I think what web3 game creator are more focus on now is the crypto aspect, but I feel with time we will see more project with both nice graphics and also interesting storyline

What's the basis for your belief? So many reasons why most gamefi projects are the way they are are not going to magically disappear IMO. Maybe if economic situation around the globe becomes better and everyone can live comfortably things will change, but that's an utopia. Most developers will develop their games for money, and spending time and efforts for a gamefi with nice graphics doesn't feel it will be any different. In fact, there have been a trend of using AI for the design in many games recently.
