Difference between Activity and Post

I was thinking that the number of posts made is the same with the Activity count on every profile.
But it seems they're something different on the profile of some users on this forum.
Seeing my activity the same as the total post I've made has made me believe that the two terms are the same.
But when I check the profile of any random user, I'll  find out that the activity count is far higher than Total Post made...
But on my case, the Total number of posts made is the same as my activity count.
Please I'll love to know what makes activity different from Total post and what is likely the benefits of having much activity count over Total posts made...
And what's makes your activity count grows???

They are different, and its just coincidence that your posts and activity is the same. If you keep posting like >14 posts a week you will see your activity stop at certain point then continue to grow next week or two.
There's no exact explanation here about the calculation of activity but it depends on your posts, and i assume that there's a limit of N activity you can get every week, so older and active members have much higher posts counts than its activity.

And there's benefits of having much activity count over total posts.

I thought that 14 posts a week activity is for Bitcointalk only, to be exact that's 14 activity points in 2 weeks. If that's true then we have activity limitation on this forum as well. Since I don't count my activity anymore but I believe at some point like at 2000 it might freeze.

No, its only my assumptions, that's why i added ">" sign but i'm sure the way it work is the same on bitcointalk, it has limits on a certain time, and will be added due to number of posts per day or week/s.

There can be different limitations which will stop activity growth, because activity is the main count which gives an opportunity to rank up. If someone does't meet all the criteria to get the next rank, his activity will stop growing until all criteria are met. The account age is only one of the criteria.

Additionally not all posts will be counted to increase activity even when there are no limitations on activity growth. For instance there are some sections where activity is not growing.

Your activity does not grow just in a number, as a first timer your activity grows in every post made but when you've been active for sometimes the activities will stop for maybe two weeks then add again in that two weeks time after that it seizes again. But in that two weeks if you are not active at all your activities won't add so your post also boost your activity.

Nothing, it means that your account is old but less in posts.

Given that to achieve Mythical rank you need to have around 5000 of activity at the moment and activity can be frozen AFAIR at 2000 before that, you are close to what I mean, but not exactly. Activity will be frozen before you can get the next rank if your account doesn't meet all the criteria until it will, and then it will start from the number on which it was frozen. All posts left from the time of freezing up to unfreezing will not be counted as activity.

Still don't understand all the activity freezing, but noticed it for a few users around 2,000 which is interesting.

I think your activity also stops counting if you have negative karma, at least it's not possible for higher ranks with it -k, so I assume this is determined by activity freeze as well.

There is difference between posts and activities, when your making a post or creating a thread, it all count as a post while your activities are on a bi weekly post counts and that is what determines the ranking you have from one stage to another, when you want to have an increased activities, then learn to make more post in other for them to count towards your required number of activities for each rank.

General Discussion Post Count.

As for other posts which are not counted as activity, it can differ from time to time. For instance too short posts are usually not counted as activity, posts in Trash and probably some other. There's no comprehensive list of all cases, but it is known that not all posts are counted as activity.

It's referenced here. I'll link the latter into the pinned topics about rank, as it wasn't easy to find these.

In addition to Post count, there are many factors that come into play, like Karma, Registration date, Activity, topics started, etc ...
These factors will block you from ranking up, even if you have reached the post requirement. When all factors are met, you would rank up.
That's why your activity will freeze when you have fulfilled the post count condition, but not yet the other conditions.

The requirement for rank increase varies, and can depend on these factors:
- Post count : how many topics and posts have you created ?
- Karma : are your topics and replies getting positive karma?
- Online presence: are you present on the forum often, or just logging in posting the out.
- Registration date: when you signed-up, to prevent cheating with ranking.

Admin has otherwise been hush hush about specifics in regards to these factors, and thus these remain state secrets (and shouldn't be discussed).

On Bitcointalk activity is added on the basis of posts you made and only 14 activity is added in 14 days that's 1 activity in one day. So if you have made 1000 posts and you have only spent 100 days on the forum of Bitcointalk then your activity will be 100 but the post count will be 1000.

If you are manually counting the total number of posts of some users whom you see have lower posts but higher activity like if I calculate my posts manually not including this then that's around 766 and my total activity is more than 1000 maybe it has to do with your teleportation if you have teleported from another forum with Hero rank then maybe admin has added 700 activity to give me the same rank here so if I add that 700 activity and the 766 activity I get exact activity.
