Correct and I agree with you on this one but only those who can do this are pure investors with stable source of income. But for us who has unstable source this is not gonna work because holding for long term will only hurt our purses and just give us stress especially in an unfavorable situation. Yep, you can't hold coins for a long term if you have no patience. 
However, someone can't ensure that he has a good patience because of his nature or the potential of the coin itself. He knows the good potential of the coin in the future, so it is the reason for holding with a patience. If he knows it won't have a good future, he won't hold with a patience. IMO, patience has something to do with knowledge and with our nature as well.
