As we all know by now, a new president was elected in the US this week. We will not discuss the person, we will discuss a few of his election slogans and the expected market reaction.
So, I would like to talk about two slogans “Make America Great Again” and “Pump the oil baby, pump it !”
What's that about? I will not go into the political aspects as this is an economic topic. Economically, it means regaining lost leverage, markets and forcing some market players to take the place that Trump thinks they deserve instead of playing gods. We won't discuss what Trump will do with the economy of China and other “fighters against the US and the dollar”, we'll talk about...oil. The second slogan, perhaps not known to everyone, is “Pump the oil baby, pump it !” and the idea is very simple - make oil cheap, give tax breaks to American oil producers and lower the price of oil to about 50 dollars a barrel. It should be noted that the US has everything it needs to REALIZE this !

Actually the question - your opinion, what is the forecast of realization of this slogan and what will be the impact on the economy of the U.S. and the world ?

the slogan would not do anything but raise expectations and get him votes which are things that are already done and now trump has to work he plans on lowering oil prices which means that he probably wants to increase us production of oil so that domestic prices are lowered this will be bad for other countries that produce oil like russia and saudi arabia because more countries will rely on us for oil if their prices are much cheaper and the other countries will not get as much revenue if that happens

The US remain the largest oil producers over six years now and the main problem of US economy has been cost in energy. He will definitely try as much as possible to cut it down and here is how I think he will actualize it.

- If they increase their production of barrel perday, probably from 21m/day to 30m/day, this can increase the supply and this can immediately crash the price of crude oil. However, I'm not sure if regulations will allow them to do that but Trump that I know listen to no one, so it's possible

- The war in the middle east: Since he promised to end the war in the middle east, most of the countries at war drill oil and if they later settle their differences, they will come back to production to increase their quota of supply to the market and then this can also crash the price of oil further.

- The rest of the world that are dependent on crude oil sell nigh fall short in their own economy especially if they invest so much in the cost of production of their crude oil.

These are the things I think we might see very soon. The price of Gold is already reacting to Trump succession of the election.

I agree that the slogan was originally about something else, but time goes on, and this slogan already speaks in a broader sense, taking into account the realities.

Back to oil, and a drop in the price of oil is a very real scenario, especially given the growing confrontation and discontent within OPEC. Saudi Arabia in the last century has already shown how it is possible to collapse the oil market in a short period of time and for a long period of time. And the result of this step was the collapse of the USSR, the economy of which was based on the sale of hydrocarbons.
At the same time, today's games of manipulation of oil prices are not very supportive of Saudi Arabia either....
Now let's return to geopolitics - oil growth in recent years, if we do not take into account manipulation, was linked to expectations and growth in demand for oil due to the growth of the Chinese economy.  Now this trigger for price growth is no longer there and most likely will not be. But Trump has a desire to “cool down the dashing heads” in Beijing, which is likely to lead to an even greater slowdown in the Chinese economy. This means that demand for oil will fall further. And if demand falls - what happens? That's right - a drop in the price of this commodity.  Therefore, it seems to me that the complex of promises so far, and in 2025 and real steps, with high probability can lead to such a scenario as BRENT at 50 dollars per barrel.

Bottom line - MAGA is realized both by supporting the economy domestically and by economically weakening our adversaries.
And imagine what kind of support Trump will have when the price of gasoline in the US drops by about half ?

If trump is ready to bring down the price of oil it's a good one but to me it's a bad ideas because there are countries that depends on oil to feed their nation and help their Economy too so it will be bad for many Economies of the world especially African Economies if he has a economic plan to make America great again he should go ahead with it but let him leave the price of oil out of it because the truth is the American economy has not been doing well for a while so he should be talking about America trade and how they can gain more grounds in the world especially in the African market where china is becoming a threat to them

Well I guess world leaders especially those with huge oil resourses like Trump because they feel safe with him as they only talk about how to make economies great as oppose to other leaders that always talk about wars and stuff so I think those countries are more interested in having business with Trump than going to war against him and that is where Oil might pump.

if US does have the resources then why is there the need for them to invade the middle east?  but yep if they have the oil, just re-up the factories in their homeland build more in US soil instead off moving them all the China so that Us will not have to create tension in China to make war because they can't prevent their technology from being copied as they claim.

The US economy grew by $1.6 trillion in 2023, that's more than 4 times the entire GDP of Nigeria or nearly the entire GDP of Russia, and this was just the increase! You call this doing badly?

I'm unaware of some of the challenges, but within the very first year in office, the new administration should be able to achieve this.

A reduced price of oil will allow citizens to have more money to spend on other things.

... and the world ?

Around the world, countries that depend on the US for oil will be happy that they will have to spend less on it, while competitors to the US on the oil market will be forced to reduce their own prices to eliminate the advantage the US will have from the reduced price.

Yeah I sense it that with the pressure of the current president I think they can get back to a better Economy especially since one of their major country rival are facing difficulty in their Economy. But sorry I would like to ask a question cause I don't really follow any news of America and news concerning their oil so my question is, when you say reduce cost of oil by 50 dollars per barrel do you mean for American sellers or it is import cost.

Therefore, strengthening, or even say the revival of the U.S., will only be to the benefit, in the fight against global terrorism, both conventional and economic, and cheap oil is the death of the Russian economy, and thus the inability to further support the terrorist war in Ukraine, and will not give the opportunity to broadcast it further around the world, as they openly declare

Russia helped the west win against Germans, and yet they didn't let Russia joined? think about it. and then your government believes Ukr will be among the NATO?  all logic should have been applied to making this decisions. there could have been peace if they just did it. after all NATO is for security alliance as they claim.
