well now it is revealed that trump created the department of government efficiency for musk to lead alongside another republican he says that this department is to ensure that the government is at the right direction financially speaking mostly and he said he wants people from outside the white house to keep the govt in check

It is typical in politics to give top supporters government positions or other forms of reward. I just find it ironic that a new department has to be created to fight inefficiency. Isn't it just adding to an already overburdened system of bureaucracy?

I agree with this concern that it could create conflicts of interest. If Elon has military contracts, and it has the biggest budget allocation, will he cut costs in defense?

Wanting to change things with an "entrepreneurial approach" is a good move, but Elon may not be the best person for the job as evidenced by his latest business decisions.

Another quote: "As a candidate, Ramaswamy advocated for the shutdown of federal government agencies including the FBI, Department of Education and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission." I'm scared for Americans if Ramaswamy continues to advocate for the shutting down of these entities. I don't see anything good coming from closing down a major law enforcement agency and the department in charge of children's education.

That's a nice recognition from trump to someone who supported his campaign.
But I don't think musk is the right man for that job from the comment of the person above, he may have worked with government officials, security agencies, military and so on but he does not have that wide experience. When a person is appointed by government to supercede, supervise or cover a position that person must be trained for it and an expert.
I think if he wants to reward trump he should give him contracts and with the level of technology he has it can help the country even economically.

I was shocked to hear about the news but looking at it am not surprised as it's all about politics and in politics it's what you give out to get what you want and Elon musk being appointed by trump should not be a strange news to you as Elon musk supported Trump with his money, energy and time so in the world of politics there's rewards for hardwork so Trump should be commended for this bold step that he took by appointing musk to be checkmating his admiration and give them advice on the areas government efficacy to make sure that he is given the right advice in the areas of policy formation and how to translate his campaign agendas to work and make sure that the people get the best from the trump admiration so people should not be surprised as politics all over the world is thesame it is purely give and take

Well, I think Elon is the right person on that depertment because he knows everything better than other people who are afraid of risks, Elon is the best on this aside from him being so successfull in finance. He is also transparent and for me is fair. His dedication to his goal is what makes makes him the best in any field because he wants things to be according to his plans and he is also flexible.

quite unusual department but this is somewhat Javier Milei did in Argentina. just dissolving government agencies and firing department heads. it looks good for the reputation but looking on the other side of it, it could just be erasing the documents that will trace corruptions. anyway, while they are up to clean their government, hope to see DOGE shoots to mars.

i'm already doubting whether Elon can survive once the US government strikes him though. just a week ago i think Biden already accused him of staying in US illegally sometime in the past.

It's nice to see some fresh new faces in the Government but heading an agency that will be under the scrutiny of everyone (including media) is going to be a tough task. I think he can give great takes on efficiency and then it will be Vivek who will handle the bureaucracy and regulations part.

As far as I know, Elon Musk has no experience in this sector. I assume there should be a better person. However, Elon Musk deserves to lead the department because he is one of the most successful people in US. If he understands to handle his business, he should have the ability to handle the department, too. Elon Musk is also a person who has varied knowledge, he understands many things. Well, I think it is interesting to see what Elon Musk will do with this department.

it is quite a concerning role for elon musk i must say as he has never really taken a role this huge and important before despite having multiple business ventures but he is smart and can manage money i just hope that he takes this department seriously and think about the lives of many american people he can affect with his decisions

i am honestly baffled by these plans i mean why would they shut down important departments when they can just make sure they improve them? it would be chaotic without these departments imo

I think Elon is only been compensated for his efforts and supports during the campaign, because he won more soldiers for Trump in the election based on his die hard followers. However, Elon is a successful business man and is very good in business but I don't think he will be good in the government with this is new appointment, because he lacks the qualities.

Yeah same here. I am also wondering who and what Milei did to the Argentina government as well. Never hear such name before maybe I already seen this guy on streaming sites but I didn't recognize him for that. He will prove to be transparent when he is open about how much money his companies have got from the government in subsidies.
Let's see his success aside from Tesla , which was built on government subsidies:

Elon Musk is a business man and in practical world every business man seek support from politicians and their relationship is like a symbiotic one, they help each other grow and most of the things will not be visible to public.

Elon isn't suitable to run any department and he won't do that too if provided because he is already working towards the space x and that will be his only priority and make tons of money too.
