I just got a warning message, pointing me to desist from Shill posting.
I literally don't know if I did anything related to shilling from commenting on any post, or else my comments were inspected from another point of view.
With the meaning of shilling Post, I openly wasn't trying to advertise nor create awareness for anything.

I don't want to receive penalties as a user making shill post, I'll love your thoughts on what shill post is all about.

Shilling post is basically an advertisement of a project.

You stray saying a lot of good stuff for a random project which probably doesn't deserve all that.

In most cases, shilling is promoting a certain project here implicitly, and with the goal of advertising it as something that could be big in the future and even comparing it to big crypto as Bitcoin or Ethereum. Or something that you says that it could be the biggest in the next coming months.

So it's very frown upon to do that kind of advertisement here, as you create a hype or so called pump on a certain project.

A shill post is a misleading marketing when an individual presents or posted an information that appears to be too good to be true, often to manipulate opinions or actions, while concealing their true identity or affiliation. an information that Seems excellent but is actually false or exaggerated, which Intends to deceive or mislead people.

I think you have enough information about shilling by the other members, but in addition shilling post can be said to be a way in which a person or individual is trying to promote a certain project or product and giving  information and knowledge about a certain project which the person is paid to do so. Moreover it a way in which you try and promote people interest In a certain project.
It just a way in which a project is being promote by individuals or users for instance Bounties the hunters are trying to promote some certain project which is why they give a lot of information and features about certain projects.


I guess you have been involved in this activity which is against the forum rules and regulations which is why you have been notified and watched.  Try and make amends and hold off from that activity to prevent further damage or harm to your account.

Op such thread needs the message you received foe more clarification. I just glanced through of your first/second pages of your post history but I could not figure out any shilling post and if you don't mind can you provide the message you received? But I believed before you received such message you most been a praise poster to some projects or brand and it was a warning to you to desist from it. And let the project owners to come here do their advertisement.

There is no two way meaning of the concept you are asking for and the way you explain in the Op is the original meaning of the term. Either you are advertising a project which not yet approved in the forum to others or over praising a brand.

A lot of people have already posted what it means for your post. I know there's an old context about money or transactions, so in the modern age, it's somewhat of an endorsement to have personal gain. It can also be slightly deceptive to some people who do it. That's why it's discouraged.

However, shilling is when you advertise a service in almost every post you make, there are many shillers in crypto forums, they are paid to promote a service and they somehow make every of their post to be about the service they are paid to promote.

Sometimes people can unconsciously hype or promote a particular project they are passionate about, without realising that they are crossing the line. You may have crossed the line in some of your posts. I have gone through the first two pages of your post history and I didn't find any shill post there. It would have been better if you had sent the post here so we all can know what you did wrong.

Now that you have been warned already, desist from creating posts that tend to overhype,  promote or market any project. Ensure whatever you post are verified  and not misleading.

If you create multiple posts with the context of adding a project name or specific service provider name or just adding their name in between as an example is the classic example of shill and usually newbies farm does that and get paid for doing that from the project.

You maybe unintentionally did that and you are just under the watch list for now, don't repeat the same and the tag might be removed after certain period of time.

Anyway, I was the mod that sent the warning, but on reflection it looks like it was in error so apologies for that.  For context we've had dozens of shills infest the forum over recent months, and it looked like you were on a similar path. There was something specific, I think it was bumping an old shill thread but can't find it now, that made me believe you were posting for shill bounty. But now I realise your discussions have been based in the topics that were actually created regarding these projects (which is not what shills do), rather than the usually shillery of referencing X projects in a every other post on the forum across a wide range of topics (excluding topics actually based on the project).

That probably doesn't make much sense, nor is a very good explanation, but as a human I make mistakes. The other reason I know this is because out of the 70+ shills that have been warned or labeled as such, you are the only one to have come forward and questioned the warning, and how to avoid any future punishment etc. If you were a shill you wouldn't be asking questions, you'd just ignore the warning until your account gets moderated and then set up a new one; so this is somewhat confirmation that I was wrong here, so +1 there.

I can think of at least one other case where something similar happened, although that member may have already been marked as a shill.  In that case, it was a very bad attempt that had no effect on changing the status of that member.

Mistakes are always possible, but my advice is that everyone should be careful not to participate in discussions started by shills - now of course the question is how to recognize them, but that's another topic.

I guess I didn't make much research on avoiding posts related to shilling which was a major reason I had to make comments on that topic.
And after receiving such warning, I was tensed to raise this topic so I can be educated on what shilling means and how I could possibly avoid shilling.

If you were talking about a token in a topic where you should not be like any low cap altcoin in BTC section or ETH section then you might get this badge. There can be another reason for it but if you want to shill about any token in other words if you want to post bullish content about a token post it on shilling token section then you won't get that badge.

Although I am not seeing any such badge on you I think that was a mistake. Shilling means keep posting about a token again and again and in the wrong section I can be wrong.
