At least, let ethereum make it to all-time high. Its all-time high was almost $4900 but it is still at $3125. A coin that do not get to all-time high is not good to hold in long term.

That would be for short term investment. But OP asked of long term investment. I prefer a coin that will give all-time high at the appropriate time just like bitcoin. Solana tried by giving huge return and it is close to all-time high which is $260. But generally I will still prefer an asset like bitcoin. If the bull run continue, ethereum may increase further but it can be at the late period towards the bear market. Maybe the bear market is going to be massive on such coins.

As a matter of facts, investments on crypto assets requires patience, and it is a probability that once you take a buy position price may Dump immediately but because some holders, investors are not patience, they sell due to fear. One thing is certain on the cryptocurrency economy, and that is the fact that once you sell when prices is dropping, or bearish, because of fear, you have lost.
When prices of crypto assets goes down, it does not signify that the coin/tokens will go to zero. unfortunately, many new investors, traders are emotionally inclined with such negative mindset of a total price crash, or a dump to zero. it is not good to be too emotional as a trader or an Investor, to avoid selling at loss often.

You wait for alt season the same you wait for BTC to skyrocket higher.
So it's long-term too.
You could accumulate it for 3-4 years and await what would happen then, to see it grow steadily. If you invested in 2022-ish, you already have 2x plus or minus.

The network you are investing in matters alot and your approach towards the investment matters a lot too. For coins aside bitcoin I wouldn't really recommend investing in them in the form of Hodling especially for long term because of the nature of their volatility in a negative way.  People who are in steady profit or have been in steady profit for a long time now are those that bought below the 2.1k mark.

However if you are good at trading and understand market dynamics properly, trading ethereum with a nice capital and leverage would put you in huge profit far more than Ethereum hodling would it's all about risk to reward ratio and span of investment.

I don't really know how traders makes alot of profits in trading Ethereum, except they are doing it in a very large amount. Ethereum doesn't have this bullish momentum unlike the others that we've seen recently. So, I think if anyone wants to go into Ethereum trading, then it is best to have it in a large quantity or at least, a reasonable amount that can yield profits when trading.  And for those that chooses to hodl, they might also want to hodl a reasonable amount so as to get a better profit in the future.

buy coins when the price drops according to you and do not buy when the price is rising, if someone buys ETH when the price drops and then the price drops further, it is better to hold on until the price goes up if it is profitable for you. Investing in ETH in the long term seems like a good idea because the risk is small, just like bitcoin, but I think it depends on a person if he is smart in managing his assets so that he has a strategy and target to get daily profits, both short term and vice versa.
