What does Watched mean?

I saw Watched at the bottom of an account in the forum and was not really convenient with it, so I made a search in the forum to get it's meaning, which I found herein this link

A question came to my mind having read the response of dragoncrypto, which said does he have a negative karma?
My question is, what if the forum member does not have a negative karma?

Like the account is under surveillance? That once that user do it again (spam posting, low quality, karma abuse, etc) the account will be demoted or will be given negative karma, or maybe banned. Sounds something like that.

What makes you think it's inconvenient to see? Isn't the tag small enough and doesn't clutter the member profile page? At least that's my experience with watched members.

For me, a status like that helps me watch out for potential spammers so I can respond accordingly. I believe we also have the shiller tag, which is quite convenient because replying to them might be wasteful since they only respond to shill content.

What I meant by inconvenience is that if the person has positive karma and is being watched, Px-z said Surveillance

Can it be removed when the quality of post improves or it'll remain there forever?

any warning is never inconvenient for me but it is not like it is such a sore in the eyes

i value all of the members' opinions here on the forum even if they are a beginner but we have to sometimes be wary of who we interact with in this forum there are plenty information being shared in the forum and we want to make sure that whoever is sharing this has a good reputation and shares only news that has credibility and isnt laced with fake news

Right, warnings, tags and labels on profiles are good in many ways, but not when it overloads the profile page (left side of the post) due to many images including avatar. If it can be resized or what it will be much better.

As other users have told you, you will see a user have the "Watched" mark on their profile when some forum rules are broken. It is due to a “Warning” that the moderators send to that user, it can be 5%, 10%, 15% or 20%. The 5% warning does not appear on the profiles, only the highest ones appear. These warnings are automatically removed by the system a few hours later.

If a user does not improve the quality of their posts, or continues to post spam (for example) they will receive another warning, if they reach a total of 3 warnings, they will receive a badge with the first strike.

I think my explanation from 2018 is more or less the same as today, and Freemind otherwise explained what this means. Being watched otherwise means your are on a mod watchlist, which is a temporary list of users that we are keeping an eye on, and thus is a temporary mark on such profiles. Here's otherwise some further details regarding the warning level system.

Temporary Warnings (Not Membership Groups)

=> Below 10% warning level no longer appears on your posts, the warning level will eventually decrease to 0%
=> Below 30% warning level you will no longer have posts moderated, but still be watched
=> Blow 60% warning level you will no longer be muted, but instead have posts moderated

Back then it was mainly only for spammers. Now with plagiarists, shills, AI bots, and other misbehaving users, it's effectively anyone who has broken the forum rules and been warned for such behaviour.

As Freemind and I already said, the warning is only temporary, thus it disappears automatically from the profile, not due to any intervention from mods.

Many people have given you so many answers but let me add mine. From various observation and seeing it from people profiles, whenever I see "Watched" in someone's profile, it means the user has committed an offence so he is liable to be punished so he is under the watched list to be punished. Either plagiarism or spamming. That is how I understand it.

It is a warning sign for the user that he should not do it again and if he continues, then he will be punished for the offense but if he didn't again and beg then second chance is given.

This signifies that an a user account is under a watch, we have to get used to this, because there are some users we may not have to trust their judgement, posts, or even contents, when you see a user like that, we have to be more careful about them because there is something under surveillance concerning them, its something also not so common, we may only see such as on an occasional base.

That's a good question. It doesn't really matter if the user waits a reasonable amount of time until these warnings are automatically disabled. Warnings are cumulative and each user has a log where all this information is saved. When 3 warnings are reached, the user receives a badge (shiller, low quality post...) given by the moderators, and that badge is not automatically deactivated. by the system, it is permanent in most cases, and only the administrator and moderators could remove that badge.

Negative karma means mods are giving the spammer negative karma and even I have seen many members have the watched option and they have -1 karma but do not know why giving negative karma is necassary unless the member being watched is not spamming anymore but most of the spammer don't care and they spam everyone.

-1 Karma can also give heads up to every member to stay away from him in making any trades. There are some member who have watched badge but they don't have -1 karma maybe because they are just being watched and they are not spamming high so they are given relaxation until they spam again.
