Known in digital asset circles as the “Cryptoqueen,” Ignatova founded OneCoin in 2014 and grew it into a multi-billion dollar venture, promising uninformed investors that she had invented “the next Bitcoin.” However, it was all a sham, and when her house of cards collapsed in 2017, she fled her home in Bulgaria and has not been seen since. Numerous reports have claimed she has long been dead, including one that claimed she was dismembered by a mafia boss and dumped in the Ionian Sea in 2018.

However, according to German filmmaker Johann von Mirbach, who has been investigating the Cryptoqueen for years and pursuing leads globally, Ignatova is alive and hiding in an affluent neighborhood in the picturesque coastal city of Cape Town in South Africa.

while the evidences they have presented claiming ignatova is living in south africa is not that profound, it seems very plausible the people that are connected to ignatova have travelled to the region after she disappeared which could mean they were visiting her

but the documentary stops there which means they weren’t able to really find out where ignatova is hiding in south africa (if she really is) if she is indeed alive and just hiding, i am sure that she has already changed her identity she probably doesn’t look the same anymore and maybe the ignatova that the authorities point to is just a lookalike

many people can disappear with the right methods and resources which two of the things i think ignatova has plenty of

I am hoping that the sighting of the OneCoin scammer can be true and that she can finally be caught and be brought to justice as there are so many victims she should be facing and she do not deserve any kind of luxurious life that she might be enjoying right now while in hiding. Now, am sure that if Ruja Ignatova can be in S.A., she must have been alerted right now with this news and can already be in another country to continue her evading saga. Just like SBF of FTX, she should be tried and be made accountable to the money her deception siphoned from trusting people. Who could have thought that the most famous scammer can be a woman and not a man...certainly we are entering the gender equality era (though this is in a bad way, I guess).

I've heard about OneCoin for a long time, even my friends parents used to buy a lot of OneCoin and they're still hoping that OneCoin will make them rich someday, just like how BTC made early investors US millionaires. I've explained the ponzi nature of this project but they still hold great expectations for some kind of miracle.

Regarding the fate of the CryptoQueen, it will be very difficult to know the truth. If she is really in South Africa enjoying life, then the FBI agents will hunt her down aggressively. However, this doesn't really matter for my investment journey, I'm lucky to not be a victim of OneCoin, I just happened to miss out on a lot of time and opportunities with BTC.

There are theories that she was killed by the mafia, that she changed her appearance with plastic surgery, and that she lives in a luxury resort far beyond the reach of all possible authorities. Regardless of whether they will ever catch her or not, I think that in addition to her, the money also disappeared, and that those who were so naive as to believe in such fairy tales will get nothing but an expensive life lesson.

Yes, this is my opinion too, if the documentary was sure that Cryptoqueen was in South Africa and was spotted and confirmed to be her, they should have informed the police to arrest her first before making the documentary. So I think this documentary is more for promotion and fame than the truth.

It's not the strangest story, the story is clear, but the reality and the current situation of the girl is unkown and FBI has a big bounty on her, there were many stories shared on internet that she is dead by his body gaurd etc. etc.

I think she is not dead she faked it, she had a lot of money and she can do plastic surgery that then no one can recognize him, so she don't have to be in bad company, speaking of the filmaker, I think he is living in a fantasy world, I mean someone from south africa tipped him that she is living here. So you make a documentary about this for views and clicks but forget about what everyone's duty in a case like this would normally be?

On point mate, it's said that "a person chasing a thief is the one showing the thief the road to follow". If truly there is a trace of the scammer, it's something to be kept away from the public ears because the scammer is also on watch to know if there's still a trace of track on her.

I guess the public news to be discussed on this matter is that she has been caught and brought to justice, other documentaries on her trace in South Africa is just a good news that is incomplete probably a medium of getting more views and catching the interest of the public.
