Sure!

I followed a link from here:
https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=325977.msg1677469#new
The one from the AirDrop section

Stupidly enough I followed through QR code via my phone's cam and it triggered a smartcontract.
Had it been through the browser extension, I would have blocked it.

After the smart contract transfered it to these wallets:
0x8da472B318d93E7E473D3893CD40084F2a23D3B3 (already flagged and phishing)
0x450d6d05c246593D050045D729500979cD896afe

1 ETH is still significant sum, I thought of using it as a fuel to write this course in the university. Apparently, this is all I can input now

Not to say I am in Ukraine and business is not running good.

Sorry for your loss, 1 ETH is really a big amount that can help in many ways and also help to fulfill a lot in your course of action on building a course in cryptocurrency on international economic relations. Scams are a very serious problem in the crypto space and for forums like this, they are not moderated unless users involved in scamming people is being found guilty and account flagged to avoid further occurrence of such in the future. This is a very important to watch out for especially for newbies in the space and be more careful while clicking links and not just scan any QR code with their phones especially even on their wallets. The money may have been loss, but you’ll get back more sooner as you strive to achieve great things in the crypto space soon.

Even the most experienced crypto enthusiasts falls for different types of scams. I remember one on Twitter (now X) being attacked while doing a live tutorial (something like that).

As to your case, let the forum officers take a look and maybe they can flag the poster of that airdrop as well. Post a link of this topic to the general chat above.

I’m sorry to hear about your poor situation. This emphasizes why you should avoid clicking on unsolicited links that attempt to connect to your crypto wallet, as they may be phishing attempts designed to steal your crypto coins.

Many of us have fallen victim to such scams and learned our lesson the hard way: never click on links that ask for access to our crypto wallets.

However, it’s still unfortunate this happened to you, especially with the bull run approaching so fast.

Same as the others. I also feel sorry for this incident and the incident that was certainly very unexpected and unexpected. especially being a victim of a scam, this must give you extraordinary regret.

There have been many cases like this, there is not much I can say, other than making this a very valuable experience and lesson, so that in the future it will not happen again and become more careful. Because in any case, the scammers may come back again with a different scam mode, but in fact the point is the same, namely they want our assets. Therefore, we must be more vigilant and careful in all activities and activities, especially in the crypto world/

It is extremely ironic how I got here.

About me, I am a teacher of International Economics and I constantly update my program. Right now I am willing to build a crypto part on international economic relations course.

I've been researching the crypto movement since 2017 and even had a couple of analytical tools built back in the day.

As I've returned to this area and made my presence on forums like this I became a victim of the scam. Unfortunately here, on this forum.
I've always been extremely cautious but fell a victim of trust to AltCoinsTalks name. I fell short of 1 ETH
Apparently all I had on my MetaMask wallet.
I think that you also create a best comment in your post. In this post you could express your valuable opinion in this moment. I also very pleased to know you want to a crypto teacher in cryptocurrency world. So i believe that it will be a great achievement for us. But we also sorry for your losses ETH. We also know that many scammer also look why they can steal a currency. So i think get back your ETH must be difficult for you. So i believe that you must be aware in this matter.

This is so sad to know and this happened to you because of the airdrop post in this forum. Please coordinate with admin in case there is something he can do about it. I am not aware that using QR code can be a tool of scammers...this is really a big reminder of us to be so careful with what we are doing so we can never be another victim in the long list of scamming tactics employed by evil people. I am calling on OP of that airdrop to clarify this thing...in case he is honest enough. This should not happen again as 1 ETH is not a small amount especially if you are living in a country right now under many difficulties.

You said that you've been into crypto since 2017 and have done researching, but you completely forgotten to make research on how scammers are scamming people and what tactics they are using to lure these investors.

Well, there are many incidents on other forum as well so it's not surprising that it also happens here. It's just unfortunate to see a user here losing a significant amount of money especially now that we are on a bull run. As the bull run happens, the more scammers are getting active on a daily basis trying to scam these newbies or at least those ignorant ones that doesn't know how these scammers are operating.

Overall, what's done is done, and like I always say, "Learning sometimes really is very expensive." ;) I hope you learned from this experience OP.

I checked the link but I don't see a QR code. I also checked the website posted on that thread and it seems like you need to connect your web3 wallet to interact with it. Does the website behave differently if we access it from a desktop? Maybe my ad blocker or VPN also affects this.

Looks like the OP of that thread is still active. He posted many new threads for different projects. Maybe try to report him and put your screenshot or anything that can support your claim.

Did you have a password on your wallet?
I think before you can sign a contract  it should request your password if set.

That was the thing
I was properly protected at web version, but in iOS it was covered by faceid. And it requested the sign-in, however somehow it slipped me a smart contract. Didn't no of this function. Perhaps others would be careful from my mistake

This is a very important to watch out for especially for newbies in the space and be more careful while clicking links and not just scan any QR code with their phones especially even on their wallets. The money may have been loss, but you’ll get back more sooner as you strive to achieve great things in the crypto space soon.

That is true

Thank you!

Well, I wonder what are the tools to achieve great things besides trading?
NFTs are not on the rise as I see now. I tried minting some of my photos but it takes a lot of time to market those. And the competition is not about the quality of the art, correct me if I am wrong

Yes, the thread with the airdrop was deleted, but the site still operates.
Should I post the site knowing that it is a scam and people would take a risk entering it?

The OP is active, I reached him but he ignored my message and my comment in the tread.

How can I report him?

Re: The irony of being scammed

That was the thing
I was properly protected at web version, but in iOS it was covered by faceid. And it requested the sign-in, however somehow it slipped me a smart contract. Didn't no of this function. Perhaps others would be careful from my mistake
Ohh i see. Anyways still on IOS devices , does the face id sensor and verification automatically kick in immediately you enter a payment page? That's because for most other android devices that make use of other security sensors like fingerprints, you have to first click on something like proceed with fingerprint before you can make use of it . Though it's not all but most do it.

Anyways OP I think you should have pretty much learnt newer security lessons to make sure that you properly secure your wallet and if it be the case you don't transact too frequently with it then avoid putting the wallet in your daily driver device especially because sometimes you may get carried away and make silly mistakes.

How can I report him?
You can try making a thread about him on the reputation board. If you have enough evidence people will notice it.

Maybe I misremember things but some websites trigger your walletconnect even if you visit it without clicking anything. If you cancel or ignore it, some websites will still load properly though. Looks like the website does the same thing, plus they use malicious contracts to trick people. CMIIW.

As I've returned to this area and made my presence on forums like this I becam Unfortunately here, on this forum.
I've always been extremely cautious but fell a victim of trust to AltCoinsTalks name. I fell short of 1 ETH
Apparently all I had on my MetaMask wallet.
Sorry about your experience on the forum, but just so that newbies know, this is not a common experience or issue in this forum. Majority of the people in this forum are not scammers and have the intention to learn rather than steal from someone, but it doesn’t hide the fact that amongst us there are some bad eggs willing to drag the name of this forum into the mud and for that reason you have to be careful still dealing with anybody personally in the forum because you have no idea about their  motive.
