I joined the crypto market in 2017 when ICOs were everywhere, touted as an alternative to traditional IPOs. Now, it sounds so silly, but at that time, I and many others actually believed in it.

I don't think ICOs were touted as alternatives to IPOs, rather ICOs were just cryptocurrency industry's equivalent of IPO.

And what's silly about them? Even Ethereum started as an ICO, and look how far it has come, IIRC AAVE also did IPO.

Me? Only a little and insignificant (to buy stupid stuff) since I'm not sure what to do/buy after taking profits. I'm always thinking about retirement so I won't touch my portfolio before the event --hopefully if nothing bad happens. I can understand if some people are tempted to sell their coins if they hoard coins for the sake of buying expensive stuff. It depends on your goals, so it doesn't matter whether the BTC price increases 2x, 10x, or 100x. Anyway, don't forget to do calculations about the taxes that you must pay, it's tricky stuff.

At that time, many people said that IPO was too complicated and expensive, and that new companies could choose ICO to raise funds from the community and their tokens would act as securities. I think at that time the crypto community was not yet concerned about the SEC and their accusations

Most ICOs have failed but a few really good projects can still exist and develop to this day. Interestingly, many crypto companies want to conduct IPOs to access larger development capital for the project's future.

It looks like the market is getting stronger again, mate. So it is likely that the price of bitcoin and altcoin will go up again next week and will experience a decline during Christmas.
so if you intend to buy bitcoin wait until there is a correction.
because currently the price of bitcoin is still above $ 100K.

The bitcoin market is still in its bullish state and not many people would have even taken partials in their investment now. The bitcoin market has been full of momentum from last month and if there is no significant bearish trend recorded by bitcoin and it just keeps consolidating within a range, no one will be persuaded to sell now. We are yet to enter 2025 that a lot have speculated to the year of the bulls, so with the bullish trend we have seen so far, many still believe the bullish market is far from been over, so selling now is not even an option to them. The next target for most hodlers is $150K, we just have to wait to see how they react when the value eventually gets there by next year, that’s if it’ll ever get there.

Yes, and we should, because there's a possibility of market correction anytime, but I made sure that I still have a good reserve of Bitcoin because we are heading for a great ride of our lives investing in Bitcoin.
About the price, I have to see Trump's thinking when he sits in the office: if its positive, there's a huge possibility of doubling or even tripling the current price. Anything is positive now on the price of Bitcoin if oen of its supporters happens to be the president of the United States.

I honestly did not wait for bitcoin to reach a certain  price level (like $100k) before talking profit, I take profit from my crypto activities and investment almost every week, and I have no regret about it.

And talking about what could possibly be the ATH for bitcoin this season, well, it's had to predict if I must be honest, specially right now that Bitcoin seems to be going sideways, and Altcoins all losing value gradually, who knows if the bull run is finally over?.
But on the other hand, lets assume that Bitcoin is going to make another move again, with all the sentiment around, I am believing that the price will reach $150k before we enter we enter another bear season, $150k may not be realistic looking at the current market condition, but all the same, lets see..

I have also taken profits at the rate of $ 102-103k yesterday. Yes, it is only a small part. Because it is above my target, which is to take profits of a percentage at $ 100k and that is even more. I had to sell some Bitcoin for my business, and I am glad I could sell at a good price range. I did not intend to sell right now, but I needed money to invest in my business. I still hold a couple thousand dollars. I probably will never sell all my Bitcoin holdings because I do not want to miss the train of a million dollars. I know I won't be able to manage to gather one Bitcoin ever, but I will still hold whatever I can. One thing I do not understand is why the entire crypto market is crashing while Bitcoin is moving uptrends.

I told myself I'll take some profit when BTC hits $100k but this was rather quick burst and I am feeling greedy plus feeling that there is more to come, so I didn't take and profit and holding on to my alts. I could be completely wrong, let's see how it goes.

I have also sold some of mine and taken it by selling bitcoin above $100K.
but I have not sold the top altcoins that I still hold because I think the altcoin season will still happen next year, so I try to hold it.
Patience will always be needed in crypto investing, because according to the habit of the top bullish season will occur after a year of bitcoin halving, let's just wait.

I took some profit recently but out of necessity rather than choice but it felt good, been HODLING since 2017 with what was left after the ICO losses.

I am not sure if i would take full profits at this stage. Given how easy it was for the markets to rise up and over $100,000 its clear we are going way higher so I will HODL further.

Yes, maybe some people have already taken their profits because they are old investors who have bought at a very cheap price under $20k and have survived until now or sold some to take profits.
