According to where I read it from, it is not yet a sentence. It is a warning that he should stop disturbing bitcoin developers. If he make one more move to sue bitcoin developers, the sentence will become effective. But as of now, he is not going to jail.

I think the reason for the ruling is that he was charged with perjury which was considered contempt of court and once he stopped claiming to be Satoshi it would all be over. Craig Wright's case went from proving he was Satoshi to going crazy about being Satoshi.

With Craig's conviction, this will put the stop to anyone who will come and claim to be Satoshi Nakamoto, or they will face the same consequences like what Craig is now facing—12 months in prison—12 months is not really that long, but the shame and humiliation from being an impostor and trying to profit illegally from Nakamoto's works is enough to teach Craig that he cannot fool everybody.

Even after he was declared as not the real satoshi by the court, he still fought for that. He can even prove himself by moving the assets (1 million BTC) from one place to another to show his authenticity. But nah he want to do the wrong way, I know the whole thing is fake and wrong but what good it bring to him, a year in jail don't worth it.

He should have done a lot better to prove himself Satoshi but as he is not, then any move made by him will make things more worse for him. A year is not enough for him IMO but still, a step toward fake and illicit activity is a good step even if it's one.

Just as I said on the other forum where I first came across this, this seems like almost necessary these days with the number of people claiming to be Satoshi. If one person has received jail sentencing, it can maybe serve as a warning to others who are considering wanting to take claim of being Satoshi when they know fully well that they are not.

This conman again, it is good he has been sentenced, though it is a suspended prison sentence for two years and he will only go to jail if he defaults the court orders not to portray himself as Satoshi within this two years.

Craig is not even in the U.K from what i read online, so he will likely default this ruling, because he will most likely not be extradicted from where he is to face prison time. However, we will see if this shuts him up for good, though i doubt it will.

he is lucky that he is not getting anything more than a warning right now i even think the government has been lenient with him so if he tries to push his luck any further is it possible his sentence might even get longer? if i were him i would divert my attention somewhere else and just forget about this whole thing while i still have the chance i would not want to spend a day or more in jail and i assume neither does he but it seems like he hasn't yet understand the magnitude of the consequences

Craig Wright - and should have been named Wrong - must thanks the heavens that am not the judge who is handling his case because had it been that way I would immediately imprison him for all the lies he made and the havoc he imposed on cryptocurrency industry players...and I would also send him for 5 years in forced labor camp so he would mend his ways and come out clean never to disturb us again. Anyway, maybe we should tell the guy that if ever the real Satoshi Nakamoto would be known or surface there is an arrest to be made so he would stop claiming to be the real one.

Mate, whichever ways the news about the judgement flows, it is important to note that Craig Wright is not Satoshi Nakamoto, in my opinion, i think the court is right on his judgement. The decision to jail him for one year is good, at least, to stop him from parading himself as Satoshi, and some of these unnecessary distractions on the crypto community will come to an end.

Those 12 months in prison are just a warning for Wright to stop harassing developers. I think it is a waste of time and resources that justice has to act like this, but it is the only way in which Wright will finally understand that he cannot continue as before. The positive thing about this court ruling is that after so many years of saying nonsense, Wright will stop making a fool of himself. Because if he doesn't learn anything after this, he already knows where he will spend a year of his life.

A warning is better than nothing. It just needs to stop, IMO. It's always going to be the fact that you are pushing something that is not true. You cannot back something up, and doing that makes the person somewhat stupid because it's not true. I do hope that he stops that.

You're right. The news title is vague, but the court actually give 12 months of suspended jail sentence rather than 12 months of jail sentence. However, the news itself doesn't mention what condition is given to faketoshi that he must follow in order to prevent himself got jailed for real.

This means that Fake-toshi sentenced him by the court to 12 months in jail however, this sentence has been suspended for a period of two years. There's still a big if on this one, more of a "he's on probation" kind of thing, and not going to jail... at least for now. Certain conditions for Wright not to going to jail hasn't been released in public though.

At least he been warned now. 12 months can scare the shit out of him.
They haven't made an example out of him yet but there are more people claiming to be Satoshi. In that article also it mentioned Stephen Mollah as one of the claimant too.

The crypto community wouldn't really need any of these if he just not threatened the intellectual property.
