Imo there are no most or less secure wallets. Every problem comes from wallet users. There are users who are cautious and follow security measures, and there are those who are reckless about their money, and there are exceptions like bad luck or coincidence. I dont believe there are any wallet or a person who can not be hacked or robbed. It matters little if you have most secure wallet, when $5 wrench attack turn all security into nothing.

that is true but i still think there should be at least some responsibility taken by the platform even if you click on something suspicious if the platform is secure it wouldn’t be easily accessed by just about anyone meanwhile there are really platforms that were straight up unsafe and unsecured and doesn’t even function properly

There were no obvious hack in metamask, because the app does not store much info. It does not store much info on the PC to have something hacked. The only possible ways to get issues with metamask is to catch a trojan that will replace wallet address when you copy/paste, or when user dont read what he give access for (instead of viewing, user give access for transaction). Or some users sometimes store keystore files on their desktop or email... Once again, user is the one who might cause problem, not any software or wallet.

Yes, it's about how users secure their own wallets and wallet platforms like metamask already provide pretty good security,

A friend of mine gave me the task of finding a good altcoin wallets to keep his cryptocurrency after his recent issues with CEX and now he wants to move to a non-custodial wallet and thereby having full control of his funds.

What is the best altcoin for you based on:

• fee estimation
• security and support
• Open source outside unstoppable wallet, because there are often syncing issues with it and I have even have that challenge with it before.

Although he would have also love to hodl his bitcoin there also. The wallet he is currently thinking of using is exodus or may be the bitget wallet but I did advise him earlier not to opt for the bitget wallet since their fee estimation to me is high, did a bitcoin transaction with it on time for someone.

I use TrustWallet and Metamask to keep my alts but as of now I use a centralized exchange Binance to keep my alts because I am trading and I have to access my coins again and again that I can't do if I keep them on a wallet. The best choice for your friend would be using trust wallet, metamask, phantom, rabbit wallet, and the most used bitget wallet although you can use web3 wallet of Binance as well.

For holding BTC, any of them can be used. I know when the funds are huge people often become doubtful while choosing a good wallet, and bitget wallet can be a good choice here if he don't like trust wallet because it's not open source and many people don't like it but I don't think those people will also not like bitget wallet. One advice is, whenever your friend deposits funds on BTC blockchain make sure the input data remains less I mean, the more you receive payments on the same address the more fee you might have to pay while withdrawing.

For the case of bitcoin one of the first things they often lookout for is what kind of source code that particular wallet uses. And for something like Bitcoin it's obvious to look out for wallets that are open source as a better preference to close source bitcoin wallet.
However for the case of altcoins you hardly find an open source altcoin wallet and as a result tagging a good wallet could be something else like looking out for compatibility and number of coins supported that wallet.

This is the fact picking an altcoin wallet is pretty difficult and I guess, I will rather just tell him to use Exodus wallet, since he doesn't want to use Trust wallet again, while Metamask can be slow at times.

The only available Open source I know is not really working well having syncing issues and the likes and I hope year 2025 unstoppable wallet likely will become better.

With my little experience in making use of crypto wallets both for bitcoin only and altcoins supported wallets, i can only advise that users should make use of a non custodial crypto wallet, also, such wallet type should be an open source and not a close source wallet, also, we should find a secure means of saving our keys from any of the non custodial wallet we have in consideration.

Saving altcoin assets in hardware wallet or Trezor wallet take few moment for sending to exchange if want sell it, so I use exchange only for holding or saving altcoin assets to get easily when selling at the market due fluactive price of altcoin faster up and down.
But for bitcoin keep saving in hardware wallet because most security than exchange wallet and my holding target for long term why keep save it in hardware wallet.

If you have more funds, I agree if you want to use Hadware Trezor, because indeed, we also really need to avoid abuse, but once again, how much will we save there?
