I remember seeing an offer of daily check-ins on a platform and winning 1 SOL in prizes, along with other prize pools and additional rewards featuring trending tokens recently, i looked at it in a funny way because i have the mindset that free offers are unavailable these days. Do you think we still have opportunities like that in the crypto space?

That's how airdrops comes in, but the difference is the quality of the project giving away "free" tokens/coins, you needed time and effort to get it yet once listed, prices were so cheap that it didn't even reach $10 unlike the quality of the project before that were so lit.

Why not, there are many free coins given away to promote new projects and some projects are also already successful coins. This is just a marketing done to attract new users to buy their coins or products.
If you're used to doing airdrops, bounties or giveaways, it's common for many projects to market with free coins, but there's a task to do.

There are still airdrops, but so many of them are worthless, you just waste your time over nothing. A token can be given to you free when it's worthless, and the dev wants people to such token or coin. I could remember when Binance was giving PEPE coin to their users that carries out a transaction of certain amount above above. Any free token is worthless and no one will give you something valuable for free. Imagine someone doing bitcoin giveaway, you should be careful because it will be a scam. Nothing is free in Freetown.

You're lucky that you got $50 in SOL before my guess it is part of their campaign to promote their project.
It is just the same on BTC when there are lots of sources before where you can get BTC for free from faucets or by doing captcha and earn BTC.

These days, you can not find anyone giving away major coins like SOL, but you can try some new projects, as others have mentioned, but do not expect much from new projects; most are Telegram-based, and you might receive a token worth 1 cent, just like on Tomarket, where I received a token worth 24 cents.

New projects that are starting to build their blockchains, create Layer1 or even layer 2 that starts with Tesnet.
I work on a lot of new projects like that and it yields pretty good results if we actually work on them from scratch.

For example, in my initial project Uniswap which is an early DEX project that provides airdrops of tens of thousands of dollars for those who use it.

And some other tesnets like SUI, Optimism, ZKsync, Layer Zero etc.
It has paid tens of thousands of dollars from the consistent work I do.

And now bari projects with a telegram-based basis may be quite successful like notcoins, but then everything else is just garbage.

Yeah, that is how people get scammed, they hear that someone is giving out free BTC, but to qualify you have to send them money first, and people who are gullible fall for this BTC doubling scam. Scammers also use deepfake AI to impresonate rich people, and make the same offer to which people still fall for.

very rare these days if you want some free things in crypto space the closest thing i can think of is airdrops but they are not exactly free because you have to do something or meet the project's requirements to be able to be eligible for the airdrop

if there is a project that would give free giveaways a lot of them are suspicious and turns out to be scams so it is difficult to come across something legit

There are, just weeks ago there was giveaway in airdrop group I am joined in. I didn't bother because I didn't fancy my chances to be 3 lucky winners amongst thousands but point being there are giveaways running all time but not all may meet your eyes.

Which site are you talking about as I don't come to think about any. Finding such an opportunity nowadays is impossible because 1 Sol worth 200$ and you must be talking about times when Sol was around $1 or lower. There was a time when we could earn 1 or half BTC by doing simple tasks and a time when a airdrop could give decent reward.

Now all of that is no more because the adoption has reduced the rewards and efforts is same or more. There are no such giveaways but the ones we can get give lesser rewards.

As far as I know that Coinomize and Mixero were launching their contest on there continuously.
