Nigeria needs a ministry of poverty aliviation

With the current economic situation of the country which has been charactarized by high inflation coupled with the fuel subsidy removal that has made fuel to has skyrocketed which has indirectly affected every single thing in the country am of the opinion that a special ministry of poverty aliviation be created to solve the problem of poverty because the rate of poverty has moved up to a unprecedented level as the current poverty aliviation programs of sharing rice and cartoons of Noodles to citizens is not helping matters but a special ministry that will empower Nigerian With skills that better equip Nigerian to face the economic challenges of the country

Any new ministry formed by our government will just be another organized crime unit to swindle and collect money from the government for personal purposes because the purposes for which the ministry was established will still be unfulfilled. A ministry of poverty alleviation will not solve all the serious problems that the economy is suffering.

whenever time i come across topics like this concerning the high rate of poverty in the country it get me angry alot,to be sincere the high rate of poverty is mich due to unemployment in the country,what is the government doing concerning this,we need the government to do something to minimize this rate of poverty.

we don't need any ministry in Nigeria again because I think adding another ministry is like adding another problem. We have several Ministries in Nigeria and we still didn't see any positive changes, how did you think adding another one will solve the problem. I don't think there would be anyone that will be able to alleviate property in Nigeria because the rate of inflection is increasing day by day, as they said "a bird in hand is better than thousand in the bush". And also they said "the devil you've known is better than the Angel you've not meet" if another ministry is introduce in Nigeria, I don't think he will have any good thing to do, or bring any improvement to the country, rather he/she will Focus on how to accumulate a lot of money just as other Ministries are doing,   as they said "two good head is better than one head",  we believed in this statement and that is why we chose a lot people to represent us and to bring growth and development to our country, but they disappointed us. If a lot of people cannot come together to solve the problem that you are facing in Nigeria how did you expect one person to come up with the idea and change our country for good.

If our current Ministries can function effectively, many things will change, and we will experience good governance. So, rather than creating new ministries, I believe that the existing ones should be made to work.

You need to understand that Nigeria's poverty rate is the result of leadership's failure to harness our resources for national development. One of the reasons for rising poverty rates is that leaders compete for power with the goal of amassing wealth for themselves.

In Nigeria, we have a ministry called "Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development" tasked with alleviating poverty and improving citizens' well-being, but this ministry has done nothing tangible thus far, and the former minister even syphoned funds.

This means that our poverty rate is linked to the people in charge of our country's affairs, so creating a ministry of poverty alleviation will not change the leaders' mentalities, and it would also imply creating a ministry that already exists but will go by a different name, which I believe is unnecessary.

I just have to laugh seeing the headline because you know exactly where this implementation will end up. I saw a news yesterday that the Federal government is planning on distributing ₦70k to 70m people in 2025 among their plan to ease the economy for the people and guess what, that money will not reach $4m Nigerians, the rest will be looted.

Nigerians thinks President is there problem but everyone in the country is the problem of the system because tell me why the presidency will set a money aside for public but everyone involved takes their own percentage and then blame the government for misfortune. It's well.

You seem to get the whole gist wrong. We already have a ministry with the same mandate you desire so what is the point of the proliferation? It will even be unwise to create such a ministry when we have such a ministry already. A ministry must not bear the name ministry of poverty alleviation before you realize that we already have a ministry in existence that is geared towards poverty alleviation.

In the past we even had some poverty alleviation programmes that failed due to corruption and as you noted corruption has always been our problem. We should be more concerned about fighting corruption and not creating more ministries. Maybe you are not aware that some ministries were recently merged to tell us that proliferation of ministries is never a solution to Nigeria's poverty rate.

OP, I will disagree with this opinion of yours here, there is no need creating a new ministry when there are many poverty  alleviation programmes initiated by the government through various ministries and parastatals. We've not really seen or heard anything from these programmes but only public announcement of disbursement of funds to possibly their croonies and lackies. It is unfortunate that anything of this nature is a conduit for embezzlement and siphoning of our resources.
If you think this ministry is needed, then the government should revive other already existing poverty alleviation programmes initiated and begin to perform their duties for what the programmes were initiated for but the truth is that we all know that the funds will not get to the people it was meant for but rather the  powers that be would do their dirty deeds and walk away with it.

All those so-called giveaways done by politicians, influencers and so on and so forth, are not and will never be the best way to elevate poverty from a masses. Sharing things like food items will only give them the ability to probably eat for a while and then the effect of inflation and poverty hits back soonest. The problem is not always money but the value of money.

Like I always say it's high time the government starts looking into the important things that needs to be fixed rather than a for the moment hype kinda stuff like sharing food items.

It is not feasible to think of though because it would be another channel of embezzlement of our resources. The problem in Nigeria is far beyond poverty alleviation, the government just needs to purge itself of its correct officials and their ill practices if it wants things to work perfectly well in the country. Nigeria as a nation is blessed and endowed with natural resources that could sustain her development and economy perfectly well but the powers that be do not want things to work properly. We hear of loans secured from the World Bank, and what have they used it for, we hear of the Abacha loot that was returned, where is it and what have they used it for? many unanswered questions await our leaders both old and present.
