Just remember to clearly define what is the order of the users, because the order matters to the tool. It could be ordered by date of posting, for example.

Chances are the same for everyone.

But the tool will randomly choose a winner based in his order, not based in his name. So if the order is changed, you get different results.

Lets suppose you are rolling 3 people

1- satoshi
2-vitalik
3- finney

Lets suppose the winner determined by the tool was number 2. If you change the order of users, you get a different result.

since there were few members we decided to bring the days to the same days that are used elsewhere on other sites (bitcointalk)
so I would say that the move was right because it often slips away and therefore it happens that the participants are less

But I want to know, is it okay to vote a particular person in more than 1 category?

It doesn't say anywhere that you cannot vote for a particular person in more than one category! So technically specking, you can do that, unless it was written in the rule. But I believe there are more than one eligible members, so I don't see the necessity to nominate same person in more than one category!

In each category you can vote for no more than 3 users / projects. (if you believe if the person deserves to be or worthy of being nominated in multiple categories, then why not !)
You must briefly explain why you are nominating someone.
To vote you must have 50 earned karma points

Hmm that's an interesting note, so the results all depends on the setting of the tool, well no matter because the most important is that everyone has a fair chance at the draw, but am just curious to know what if like you said the other now fall under the category of descending number of submission that would probably not be fair since some guys submitted late or am I missing the whole set up, truth be told it's rather confusing to understand though.

No need to understand the math behind it. It is provably fair. Just get into the contest, everyone will have the same chance of winning.

Thanks, I read the rules involved and I also saw votes from others mentioning one person in more than 1 category. So I decided to do same since I didn't get response here the day I casted my own vote.

And also, it takes a user to vote for whoever he prefers and that person could possibly fill more than a category listed on the vote thread.

I didn't read the whole thread, but I think we're definitely missing a category called "Best spam/scam buster". Of course, we can probably classify some of these people into one of the existing categories, but maybe we can think about this proposal until the next vote.

but this year we're starting light
next year people know that there will be a contest and consequently they will be more prepared to vote for the people they consider appropriate
so we will definitely add this category without any problem

I don't think so. Looks like, if you were two hours late, your vote wouldn't be counted. Luckily you voted right on time I guess.
Your post got registered at "April 15, 2025, 09:44:33 PM" from my point of view, not sure whether it is showing as local or forum time, or what time format!

I have always confused this UTC time format!

Don't be so confused as far my observation this altcoinstalk forum time is utc(-2) and that is why you are seeing my post time  "April 15, 2025, 09:44:33 PM" instead of "April 15, 2025, 07:44:33 PM"
And I think you are using the default setting of Time offset, set that -2( in Look and Layout) if you want to see the utc time in this forum.

so we will definitely add this category without any problem

Though I am not part of the spam/scam detecting team but if those spammers/scammers are caught they are publicly disgrace so they can stop it but in this forum spam/scam rate is not like other forums so the detectors are like inactive here and if that is added to the event then admin is the one will win that position.

And as I said in another thread, it is not only spam/scam buster position is needed but also local hero and miss Altcoinstalks.

it means that you care about those positions and consequently they will surely be taken into consideration for next year

so as a community we have the opportunity to think about which categories to include for the v2 version of the altcoins talks community award!
