Does AI helps in football prediction

I was having an arguement yesterday with some with AI,he said his friend uses AI to predicts football and it works for him,that his friend won 1.2million,i really disagree with him because if such occurs is luck.
Please let's discuss if truely AI helps in football predictions.

i do think it is possible that ai can predict how a football match is likely to go because they can be credible when it comes to data and analyzing these said data what they can't foresee though is how an athlete plays and performs and how he may perform when affected by external factors so i would not say that they should all credit it to ai as there is definitely some luck involved and this friend might want to not depend completely on ai otherwise he might regret it

Well said! That is a fallacy. AI cannot provide accurate predictions because many factors influence the outcome of a game, which AI cannot predict. We have yet to see an AI that can predict the future, and whether we believe it or not, making predictions is simply telling the future. I can confidently tell the OP that the story being told is not true.

Probably, the gambler used an AI to collect some data, which, combined with luck, resulted in him winning, and he believes that AI provides accurate predictions. If that were true, such a gambler would win every day and by now be a multimillionaire, but I doubt that is the case.

For me, AI will not help you predict in any games because AI will based its prediction on history and not on the future so i think your friend is just so lucky that he won that large amount. If AI could help in any sports prediction then all of these bookies will shut down as games will now be predictable.

Certainly, because they will no longer profit. The betting sites are out there for profit making and so the moment they no longer profit they will either close down or pay heavily to ensure that AI predictions are disable. This is to make sure that they continue to have an edge over gamblers.

Similarly things happen with betting options, there are some options bookies disable the moment they notice that gamblers are having so much winnings from it or maybe increase the high line so it becomes difficult and risky to bet on that option. This is so common in basketball betting.

What software did he use? If it's just a free website or an unsophisticated product, it's like a coinflip algorithm IMO. You can use FM games instead and get more sophisticated calculations. However, if he uses big data and legit software, I believe the prediction will be better regarding percentage, like 55% home wins, 40% draw, etc. Keep in mind the result would still be in percentage, meaning it's not certain.

Artificial intelligence can help and assist you in making predictions, but the predictions made are still not guaranteed to be 100 percent correct because AI or artificial intelligence cannot predict the future.

Why not go to https://chatgpt.com/ and test it? Its free to ask. There are plenty of football games ahead. Just ask AI and compare results. Build statistics and get a true answer. That will be easy, isnt it? However AI wont give a direct answer. AI will give overall information only and different variations of "The result will depend on various factors like team form, injuries, tactical approaches, and player performances on the day of the game.".

The difference would be the accuracy, meaning the probability should reflect on the real world, unlike unknown/random results on questionable websites. I tested some sites some time ago and found that it was completely BS as, for example, Man City is mostly the favorite (the algorithm doesn't take into account Rodri's injury and the recent dynamics).

Yeah, real-time big data is essential, without good data, it's all meaningless whatever algorithm you use. But to say that it has to be near-perfect, well, I beg to differ. IMO if AI increases the quality of a prediction, it's still beneficial and can complement tipsters' information.

It could be that your friend uses AI to analyse data for matches and makes his predictions accordingly, a proper analyzing could amplify his winnings bets, of course nothing guaranteed. On it's own AI making prediction and winning a match it's just luck striking.

I'm not sure if this is possible, except we decide to look at it from different angles. From what I have observed about most of the AI tools around, not all of them are always up-to-date,i.e not all of them have the current/present information. And we all know that (in most cases), football predictions is determined by recent events such as team performance and form, injury worries and other things. But I wonder how some of the AI that uses (maybe 2023 and below) old data to make accurate predictions, which IMO doesn't make sense.

If someone is to use any random AI now to predict a Manchester city game, the AI might likely give the win to Manchester City based on their old dominant performance, which in reality, is not like that. So, I think AI with outdated data won't even come close.

And, assuming the AI has the current information to this very minute, it's not still a guarantee that most of the predictions will be correct. Teams these days don't even play well, so AI prediction is never a guarantee for a win.

AI can help football prediction if there is one that is dedicated to it. A dedicated AI can analyze team stats, player form, injuries, past match results, weather conditions, and even team strategies but the AI must need to be fed with all the data about football to create a prediction. however, AI prediction will not be always 100% accurate because there are instances where unexpected events can happen during a match. Things like sudden player injuries, red cards, bad referee decisions, or even unexpected weather changes can completely change the outcome of a game.

I remember that AI agents are built for that, and there's no assurance that you can win, but entertaining yourself with that approach would be fun, IMO. I don't want to spend my money on gambling like that, but it would be nice once in a while. It's a good thing to really go with the flow if you really want to. It's just that you cannot blame the AI if it got it wrong; you should still be accountable for it.

yes agree with you,ai can serve in any other issues but not in football predictions.
