As a user of the altcoinstalks forum... do you use real data, such as the main email that you use for your main needs? or use another email that has never even been related to you at all?

Another related thing might be the cellphone number, is it wise to use the main cellphone number or is it better to use a alt cellphone number to interact in this virtual world?

If this is talking about forums in general, then I'll never give away my personal data, regardless of how trusted a website is. I'd never register an account on a forum that requires a mandatory phone number to begin with. If you're concerned about signature campaigns, I don't think legitimate ones require you to use an account that has personal information either. Most of them don't allow alts, but if you stick with one account it should be fine. Just ask the campaign manager if you need more clarity. You should be suspicious if they demand your real name, phone details, etc. As for e-mails I also use throwaway e-mails unless you're dealing with a service like exchange or something similar. I try to keep my online identity and irl identity separate as much as possible. I have two different emails — one used for irl stuff and other for crypto stuff or anywhere where there is no need of real identity.

Depends on service, if it's reputed I would use my real mobile number, otherwise would look for virtual mobile number and use it instead (provided I am in dire need of that particular service in first place).

Never give your real identity to anywhere as much as possible, internet is something that you can't eradicate the data once it's passed on the floor.

I use multiple emails for different purposes and I have one for altcointalks which I am using for Bitcointalk as well but I am not going to use the same email for signups on other websites like when you want to visit a site and they ask you to login and for that I use different and never ever click any email from the inbox because it's mostly filled with spams and probably phishing links. Be private and stay safe.

It is not advisable to use real identity on any website, because you may not know the intentions of the owners. Some websites that demands real identity of users should be well scrutinized, it may be scammers who might have a disguised to be genuine but they can be fraudulent people.

As far as crypto ecosystem is concerned, we should carry out proper searches on any platform or website that asked of our personal details even KYC requirements must be thoroughly evaluated before registering on a website. whichever, its still very risky to give full personal details to any platform or projects for what ever purposes.

There are many countries when your number (main or alt) has to be registered under your name before you could activate it. Only give it online for business purposes but it would be wiser to use other means such as business emails or business social media pages.

Using the same email is not a big problem because using the same email on multiple platforms don't make your vulnerable to publicity unless you have used that email publically visible on the forum and on social media too because admins and moderators won't interefere with the database to give your emails to the authority that is what I think.

So if you make it publically visible then anyone can search it on altt and can know on which social media platform you have made it publically. This way they can connect us with our social life and therefore use different and numbers should never be used here.

You can create as many email addresses as you want, so it is recommended to have an different email addresses for different purposes.

There is a possibility to use SMS services that give you temporary messages and you can activate the services with them or get a number anonymously, but I do not recommend that. Therefore, if you are forced to, you can use these services to enhance your privacy, especially if the service is not related to trading or exchanges.

To protect ones way of privacy, I don't think this is needed to be discussed but for the benefits of everyone and other people to learn, I will add my own advice. If you are in a public internet where the world can access anywhere, it's better you protect your identity and privacy online and it's advisable you use a separate email address that is good enough for your to have access to your account and also help you recover your account when you forget your password.

The internet is full of different people, if your email is seen or hack from any website, scammers can send you bad links to click which can potentially makes you compromise your email and also put your email at risk.

Data breahes are worst and if our phone number will be out in the dark market then they can do spam calls, or try to get their hand son all the accounts made on that number and in order to get the one time passcodes they will try other spamming methods.

Therefore we must not use phone number attached to our ID on this forum it's not safe. Creating safe numbers is also possible, we can use them for not only this forum but for all the social media. In many countries they phone numbers can be bought many and some can get their hands on phone numbers that can be dumped easily.

Yeah, so many people receive calls from scammers, and what this scammers do is to tell these people something that will get them scared and put them under pressure, i.e. they can tell them that someone logged into their account from a new ip, when the victims say it was not them, they ask for sensitive info, at this time the victim is under a lot of stress and isn't thinking straight, so they may fall for it.

In the end, sometimes I still use my main email to register on forums that have nothing to do with my business.

Use Bitwarden or other password management software. This software also has a secure note/vault, so you don't have to memorize anything apart from your master password.

For phone numbers, phones nowadays have at least two SIM cards support so that you can use one for IRL things and the other one for crypto/online purposes.
