I don't think it is good to use your real phone number to register on any platform, the service might be reputable, but you don't know what can happen in the future, they might experience a data breach or something like that, and before you know it you are faced with continuous phishing attacks. You can create as many email addresses as you want, so it is recommended to have an different email addresses for different purposes.

I find it okay to use real phone number on reputed platforms. I mean it keeps things simple, if you use some service which provides anonymous phone numbers, you don't know if they will be around few years down the line while telecom companies do stick around for long.

In regards to phishing attacks, they are easy to identify, on emails it's not even a bother.

For safety, it is not advisable to make use of personal email or phone number in some websites, though, most websites requires it. Most times, for confirmation that it is human who owns the account created, and not just a bot or random account creation. Another thing is when the site requires KYC, and any site that requires KYC is a site that needs identity of its users based on government intervention/agreement between them, probably for monitoring activities of money laundry/fraud.

It's even now becoming scary how AI is collecting our data, we now have zero masking on the internet and you can't do anything without been know on the internet, it's like most of the ways people improve privacy on the internet are becoming exposed by this new things developed, and the worse is people don't even learn about privacy any longer, they just want to make money.

The way people don't take their privacy seriously is the same way they can step on landmine without knowing. Anyone can use your information on the internet to carry out any bad thing on the internet and if you are not careful, you will risk been investigated tomorrow by law enforcement. Privacy is everything.

Yeah they are easy to identify for the experienced user, however those who are inexperienced are in their numbers. I have read about how people fell for the most ridiculous of scam, so such people are vulnerable. The only problem with using your real phone number in a reputable platform is the danger of a date leak, which can happen to any service that holds customers data.

I think it's safe to assume that anything you send to a centralized service will be on the internet sooner or later. Especially if you live in a developing country where data protection is not a priority. I got spammed by loan sharks shortly after I bought a new number because I input that number into a marketplace app. It's wild how easily others can sell your numbers. Not to mention there's no compensation for that either. Even in countries like the US you can read many data breaches news every week. I hope there's a solution for this in the near future.

Here in this forum, I am not using my main email address as I have so many to use for any reason. Yes, privacy does matter and it all depends on the individual how much information he/she wishes to divulge to the public. Some can be comfortable to let the whole world know of their data...but many may not like the idea. And it is because online we don't know the many actors that may use the information that may get against us. And it is not because we are hiding something from the authorities it is the fact that those in power can turn against us anytime they may see a compelling reason to do so...and we don't want to make their act a lot easier. Now, this can be a BIG CONCERN with centralized platforms when they require us to do KYC...not just submitting our identification information, IDs and even our faces to complete the deal.

its never a good habit to use real identity or data online even in forums you usually stay like altcoinstalks. same with your phone number. it is however unavoidable when some platforms we go ask KYC.

i would like to think there are users who connected their facebook here in the forum. facebook users normally uses their realnames and phones though. but its their choice.

To “show ourselves,” as you say, it is not necessary to tell the world who we are, nor to walk around the Internet with your ID stuck to your forehead. Each opportunity is different from the others and everything has a process. I don't understand how you can give advice like that taking into account that we never know who is on the other side of the screen...

honestly this does not have to apply only to forum specifically for crypto because in almost all websites or platforms i have to access i almost never give away my personal information i never use my real name nor give away my personal or work email i only give personal information in platforms that i have to use for my family or friends to contact me of course it would be an inconvenience for me to use alternative names in those platforms if it is just my family and friends to contact me but in forums like this anyone from all over the world can see my account so i would rather not use my real name and give away my personal data

What do you mean by 'show ourselves', you can go ahead and doxx yourself all over the internet because you want to show yourself, that is a crazy thing to do. I know there are services, like cex, that you have to submit your personal info to, however, you should try as much as possible to limit the services you complete kyc in, that is why i recommend no-kyc services over kyc ones.

To go by the way of the majority appearance on most of the social media, people appear in alt identity because they don't want to be identify by whom they were, except for few or some under a reputable organization or brand, which may not have to engage on this for any reason, but if we also as an individual think of loosing nothing about exposing our privacy, then we may try to use our full or real identity.

As long as there is no need for main email and cellphone number, you are better to use your alt email and cellphone number. Privacy is always very important because it is related to your security. You can't cancel it once you've exposed it!

Only use real identity for the safe matter. And you shouldn't use it if it is not a must. Be careful of your privacy, it's something priceless..

I don't want to disclose this, because until I don't disclose that my email is main or not, no one know even admin might not know that, so it is not good for anyone to explicitly say that yeah my email is different or I use the same email everywhere.

We don't ask to attach mobile numbers here, so why bothering this question, we don't have to attach a number to the email too, which we can use here, we can create emails without numbers, and we can create anonymous emails, but don't know if we can use them to log in here.

The point is, we should keep our personal/private life away from a life where we want to be anonymous I mean, here, if we don't want to be anonymous, then it doesn't matter if we use the same email, number, or different.

No, i use different email for online accounts, i have emails for crypto related, personal, business, and for spam lol like for subs. As much as possible i don't register my phone number to any site unless its required and it really needs it like for KYC on exchanges and it needed me to do KYC, but if not, i don't mind registering at all.
