i was watching this one stand up comedian and he was doing a crowd work where he would basically interview his audience and this one audience member said he worked in ai and this is how he described it: we take your data and we give it back to you but like dumber

and that is basically it obviously i am talking about ai where people use to send prompts and asks and not ai that are used for more professional settings because i see a lot of people glorify ai as this know it all but actually all the information is just out there ai just takes it and gives it back to you

Something like a memory box that is interactive and can dish out data on demand as prerecorded. Maybe if humans had a very good reading/research culture and social media has not actually made the bulk of citizens dumber because several of the common uses of AI currently are unnecessary things that they can actually do by themselves if only they would have focused more on the productive side of the Internet and less on the side that is just a waste of time.

You’re not wrong. Ai is a simple programme that works with available data and resources, just that some people are either too lazy or do not know how to utilize these resources, data and tools available and that is why they’d rather just rely on Ai who can literally just do that in seconds, and then they have every reason to glorify Ai technology. Additionally, not everyone knows where and how to get access to some data online. Now, there are more advanced ai(s) that are doing way more than just pick some data online and give it back you, there are several data that are not really available or accessible online and these Ai developers might choose to add these information among their Ai programs and you could be shocked at what these technologies could actually do.

I think it's convenience that counts. Look at Google or any other search engine, they collect results for your search query from various sources and show it back to you and how convenient is that?

AI learns from all the data we put out there like the things we write, search, or interact with. Then it just gives that back to us in a way that is more understandable. It’s really just our own knowledge coming full circle through technology.

It saves people time, time they could have used to do the many researches and probably come to the same answer, AI provides the answer for them immediately. However, i don't like it that many people do not use it to learn, rather they use it for plagiarism and it makes their brain dull.

You just reminded me of video I watched a while back of J Krishnamurti where he was talking about technology making our brains dull, I have been cautious about using AI since then, it makes plenty things effortless sure but I don't feel like using my brain there.

Yeah that is one problem with it, so many people do not want to even do the easiest research themselves, some people do not even want to think and make posts in forums, they have to copy and paste from ai chatbot, that is crazy. If people use AI in the right way, then it is great.

I still think AI/AGI will be limited despite so called ability to think on their own, because it works over fed data unlike humans who can think original. Also, it can replace humans in tasks that are repetitive but not in all sectors.

When it does have that advantage and convenience then there's always that a negative thing and this is why its really that recommended that despite of the convenient conditions because of the application of AI on which it is really that still that better that you do make use of your own thinking and those other similar aspects because it could really that make our thinking capability to be that dull on which this is indeed true. Somehow if we do speak about in overall relevance and utility then we can really be able to say that its really that useful in most cases or the pros outweighs its cons.

One of the descriptions of AGI is it can learn new skill just like humans so yeah it all happens with the data we feed but it can compile all of them and make things on their own just like how people do and if that happens then need of human for many tasks will become obsolete and there's even one step further of AGI which is ASI (Artificial super intelligence) and that's when the it can perform smarter than humans and it's a stage of concern.

i completely agree i do think ai has the best potential right now in tech industry there are so many possible ways for us to make use of ai but instead it is being used to generate stupidity from people which gives it a bad image you would see people use chatgpt just to calculate a basic math equation or even write emails

there are things better to use ai on and it should be realized sooner than later

You can't fault the tech for that tbh. Some people will make dumb decisions regardless of how advanced tech has progressed. I mean even your phone or laptop can make people do stupid decisions like recording some stupid shit and posting it on social media. Parents can probably help educate their kids on how to use modern tech assuming they're up to date with it. Otherwise, it's quite naive to hope that children or adolescents won't get affected by their social environment, including social media. If they saw many people post how easy to use AI they will likely try the same thing. CMIIW.

Yeah, AI has a lot of potential, but how people use it really depends on them. Just like with phones or laptops, some use it wisely, and others just for fun or simple tasks. Parents can help guide kids on how to use tech properly, but at the end of the day, people tend to follow trends they see online.
