How Do Crypto Exchanges Afford Football Partnerships?
« on: February 02, 2025, 02:37:54 PM »
Hello everyone, I was watching a football match highlight this afternoon before catching the Barcelona vs. Alaves game. As I was watching the replay, I noticed Messi and his Inter Miami teammates wearing jerseys with a popular cryptocurrency exchange's logo. This isn't the first time I've seen football clubs and leagues partner with exchanges. For instance, La Liga has a partnership with an exchange, which allows fans to vote for winning teams and potentially win exclusive merchandise, match tickets, jerseys, footballs, and USDT bonuses. Cristiano Ronaldo is also involved with a similar partnership.
My question is: how do these exchanges have so much money to invest in these partnerships, or are they generating revenue from sources we're not aware of?

Over the years crypto services have entered into the world of sports through different kinds of partnerships, it is good for the services and also the industry. This partnership gives the services more visibility and more customer trust, so it is a win for them.
My question is: how do these exchanges have so much money to invest in these partnerships, or are they generating revenue from sources we're not aware of?
Crypto exchanges make a lot of money, they can afford to run these sponsorships without problems.

You are right, it just amazes me how much money they are using to do all these things. See  what this exchange have forgotten i think BIT something GET collaborated with a whole LA Liga a very big league like that and still stable and running without going down. Kudos to them. Do you think i should try their vote and win matches on the exchange?

Binance and FTX iirc also sponsor a football team like the ones you said.  they do have money for the big promotion and they are banking on the result that promoting their company in the bigger crowd will make people interested to them and eventually signup to them. this is something like the campaigns we have here in the forums.

i believe what OP is saying is Bitget that appears in a football league. there is no regulation that prohibits them for doing this unlike the gambling related services.

You are right, you actually read my mind, but how much do you think Kucoin, Bitget, Binance and others can put into this because Ronaldo, Messi and others are getting huge money for promotion?

The point here is simple, if you look at the market volume of crypto exchanges and at the same time if you look at their profits then you will understand how they can enter into partnerships with football.
Now I don't know which crypto exchange you are talking about, but most of the crypto exchangers that are at the top can afford it. If you look at the trading volume of Binance exchanger in the last 24 hours, it is 31.54 billion. So it is clear how much revenue they can make annually. And it is not unusual that they will not use this promotion strategy.

You are really on point on this that shows there is money in this cryptocurrency space most especially for the exchanges

True. The majority of exchanges are now promoting events for matches where fans can win prizes, like the BG La Liga vote to win rewards. These partnerships and events not only attract new users to the exchanges but also increase cryptocurrency awareness.

Yeah they are generating revenue from many sources not just once and practically there must be ways they won't even tell their employees that they are using to make money. Speaking of money, they have enough money dude and don't think those Football players are that expensive as Ronaldo is a partner of Binance and Messi is of Bitget I guess CMWW or Gate.io I forget which one of both but you can Google it.

Point is Exchanges have billions in profit and they can easily afford big players but they are only focusing on few players to attract some traffic or investors. I have seen their advertisements even on a non tech dude's phone is full of such advertisements.

Exchanges make millions to billions in just profits alone so they are utilising it to expand their business further by sponsoring famous athletes and sportsmen. Would you ask why Nike or Adidas is sponsoring teams?

Then why the question comes when it's about crypto related platform?

Point is Exchanges have billions in profit and they can easily afford big players but they are only focusing on few players to attract some traffic or investors. I have seen their advertisements even on a non tech dude's phone is full of such advertisements.
Like Binance which is the official sponsor of Cristiano Ronaldo and of course it is very expensive to be able to sponsor Ronaldo.
Then Leonel Messi who is Bitget's Brand Ambassador and of course is also quite expensive for the best world-class players.

Top tier 1 exchanges have a profit of millions of dollars quite easily, but they also invest by using very potential advertising.

some also use football clubs and other well-known sports so that the Exchange will be better known and have many users who keep logging in and making more profits.

A cryptocurrency exchange earns way more than a brand that sells shoes or clothes, etc., and we often see such brands sponsoring sports teams in every sport. So, I don't see how an exchange can't do that when they earn millions of dollars a month from revenue, they get trading fees, withdrawal fees, liquidations, and all sorts of charges they take from their customers for providing the services their customers need.

You will often see casinos doing such sponsorships as well, and that doesn't surprise us because we know that casinos earn good revenue, but we often overlook how much money these cryptocurrency exchanges make and as you said, their revenue is not only limited to these things, they also do other business alongside.

My question is: how do these exchanges have so much money to invest in these partnerships, or are they generating revenue from sources we're not aware of?

You mean that sponsoring exchanges may have been involved with something - that could be legal or even illegal or maybe just sinister they are not telling us - that is making them money so they can afford to pay these famous sportsmen? Well, I am not privy to how they operate their business so maybe they are really making big money in this industry or they are selling something like drugs or prostitution (am kidding, ok?) and so since we don't have any evidence of a wrong doing we should assume that these exchanges are killing it so they can pay these partnerships. Now, I would not wonder if they are really making huge money and in fact we can really verify these facts if we want to as exchanges do share their revenues and profits made annually.

Re: How Do Crypto Exchanges Afford Football Partnerships?
« Reply #13 on: February 24, 2025, 07:25:28 PM »
They have so much that it is unbelievable that they have that money to believe for. And they are not just getting football partnerships but even in basketball, look at what crypto.com did. They have bought the naming rights of staples center from the Los Angeles Lakers for how many years. This is the power of cryptocurrencies, they've got so much that they even spend it for huge partnerships like these.

Re: How Do Crypto Exchanges Afford Football Partnerships?

Everybody loves football and till today, many big brands like emirate, Heineken, Qatar airways still do adverts with football because it's one of the largest place you can reach out people, the exchanges similarly are doing the same partnership as well particularly OKX, those guys are there in every Premier League matches because they want to be there.

If you are a good observant, you should be seeing different casino advertising on football pitches, they all want to reach out to people about their platforms. Crypto exchange made a 3 years deal with Champions League to show their products for 3 years, it will expired by 2026 and it cost them millions of dollars.
