Life rules you follow to avoid creating baggage for yourself?
« on: February 21, 2025, 09:05:52 AM »
Life is kind of tricky stuff, you live and learn and often these lessons can be costly so it's better to learn from other people than to make mistakes yourself.

So as the title goes, is there any rules you follow to avoid creating baggage for yourself?

I will start with mine,

"as long as you don't hurt/harm anyone, all means are fine".

What about you?

My basic principles would be.

Clear yourself into those debts, and live up your life according into your needs.
Same goes with those lines above you've said on which its a good principle that you do have.

Life challenges are inevitable on which whenever you are really that facing up such situations then there's always a solution.
You cant be perfect even if it means that you are trying out to copy someones experience but it wont be perfect.

live according to your abilities, don't look up too often, try looking down, there are still many people who are more difficult than us, even though we only live once, we as individuals should have principles so that we don't experience hardship throughout life

Don't live at anyone mercy about your life.
Watch before you can lean on someone because not everyone will have your back when you fall.
What goes around comes around and your word is your bond

Living a life of principle is the key and is the distinguishing factor in life so what ever thing you do should be based on principle because what brings greatness to yo is a function of how principled you are so for me one rule i take seriously in life is discipline

Tricky indeed, because what you think may not harm someone may be harming someone, and you may never know.

One of the best life rules is "Keep a small circle."

"Stop expecting people to be as good as you", well we often thinks that we know the people who we are close with until they show their real face so let's not just think they are any good as we are. I didn't mean they are bad but having no expectations will avoid the disappointment in our life that's really important to not having any baggage that is bad for our mental as well as physical health.

I think I have so many quotes that I like, but "Look at the mirror first" is probably one of my favorites. It tells us to do self-introspection whenever we can before we judge others. I think it helps me avoid stubbornness, arrogance, and other negative traits that limit me. It's really hard to apply and do consistently since we need to be aware of every bias, personal value, sociological construct, and so on. Not to mention how social media encourages people to jump to conclusions easily.

"as long as you don't hurt/harm anyone, all means are fine".
Tricky indeed, because what you think may not harm someone may be harming someone, and you may never know.

Well, true but I guess unintentional harm caused can be excused.

Yeah, that's good one. No expectation, no disappointment.

Edit: typo

i tell myself that things will always work out or that pieces will always fall into their places

it’s really hard to see past all the hardships we currently experience now which might distract us from our future goals over the long term so i tend to not think that this will be the end of it all and instead remain wishful that there’s better days ahead

Yeah, life’s full of lessons, and some mistakes can be too costly to make yourself. Learning from others is definitely the smart move. For me, my rule is simple: “Think before you act, because every action has consequences.” It helps me avoid regrets and unnecessary problems.

Mistakes sometimes can be costly but mistakes are a very good way to learn if you are to go far in life because one teacher that life has placed around us always to teach us is mistakes anyone you see that has risen to a point in life in life is someone who has learnt from their mistakes so mistakes is an essential part of life that should not be joked with because it gives us the opportunity to learn and correct our self

Learning from people may not reflect in your life because everyone lives according to their own rules. Moreover, mistakes must be made because the more mistakes you make, the more you will learn and the more powerful experiences you will gain. Also show by your actions that you are committed to making amends and preventing similar situations in the future. So if you're struggling with the situation then consider talking to a trusted friend or counselor to process your feelings. We want to get out of thinking and thinking that everything will end.

What about you?
That’s the law of Karma. There are natural laws that are set in place to maintain order and balance in the world. And the rule as you call it is called the law of karma, and I believe you may have heard about it already. It states that whatever measure you use on others, the same measure will be used on you. Every action you do to others, be it good or evil, it’ll be returned to you in the future, and that’s why it’s good to do more good because you’ll also receive more good, you do more evil to others. You’ll also receive more evil from others too.
I also believe and live by this law too.

Mistakes or errors are common on which this is always been part of our lives and this is something inevitable on which you wont really be having any choice but to accept it out and would really be making adjustments accordingly. Yes, it could really be costly but it doesnt mean that you would really be just that letting it to happen again. It might do but it would be lesser since you do already have that experience and we do know that learning is a never ending thing on which as long you've been dealing up with something then you would really be that continuing to learn up until you do comes into a point that you do become that knowledgeable and much more better person on which the more experience you do have then the better you do handle good decisions accordingly.
