Lost Hope in Cryptocurrency in 2025

I only give true stories from around me in the cryptocurrency space. This pure true story was told by himself when talking to me via Phone.

I have a friend, he even knew cryptocurrency since 2013 but got involved massively in 2017 when there were many ICOs. He also said that forums like altcoinstalks and bitcointalk have been inactive since 2019 (unfortunately, I was not told which username his account was, maybe to protect his privacy) and since then he has only worked on airdrops.

Then a few days ago he called me and said something like this:

-I see that in 2025 I have given up, I no longer want to be involved in cryptocurrency for many reasons, including the price of cryptocurrency not being like 2013 to 2021.
-He also said that from 2022 until now the cryptocurrency market is saturated and cannot be relied on to take advantage of trading.
-He also said "Just look now, Bitcoin seems reluctant to go up again and many altcoins have dropped in price so sharply".

I heard his words on the phone like with a cynical tone and disappointment towards cryptocurrency.


For those of you who have known cryptocurrency for a long time from 2021 onwards, is my friend's statement valid with what you are feeling right now?

Well, to tell honestly then i would really be saying that it does have that less noise or activity if we do compare out on 2016-2020 i should say. I do remember into that golden days specially on ICO where you can see that much interest and there were tons of opportunities on which you can make money with it on which this is really that definitely that having that peak interest. Now, the market isnt really that something active in comparing into those early years on which this is really that totally different. This is why i do understands on what your friend is saying on which this is really that true but it doesnt mean that you would be just that simply stop on what you are doing currently. It all matters on how you do make money in the end of the day.

For those of you who have known cryptocurrency for a long time from 2021 onwards, is my friend's statement valid with what you are feeling right now?

Honestly, yours friend statements sound like someone who has not taken time to learn certain things about cryptocurrency like, the bitcoin circle through out all the periods he has spent on the community, as a trader or an Investor.

As a matter of facts, we heard a strong bull run in 2021, everyone who where on the community, whether as a trader or Investor made huge profit, especially those that bought or invested before the bull run stated around October 2021.

In a nutshell, from 2021 to this moment, I don't think there is any disappointment on the market, except those that has invested on meme pumps and dumps scheme and got losses. This is my opinion.

Yes, it was valid when he used the word saturated. There is truth on it; the market is flooded with too many memes, too many shitcoins, and too many scams, but compared to what he is feeling and views about the industry, we are still doing good, the industry is very robust, all the kinds actors are here and if you want to come out safe and profitable, you have to upgrade your knowledge.
The old days are great but the industry is progressing.

Price went from $1000 in 2017 to 100K in 2025, what better can we expect? He involved in which way?

Did he made any investment, if he is being in the market since 2013 then he had seen the golden days to own crypto that could made him a millionaire now but he didn't took that leap of faith and blaming the market doesn't change those facts.

Very, very much valid and your friend is not alone...in fact I would say that there are so many of us who are experiencing the same thing most especially today when another big round of RED WAVES is happening in the crypto market. Either there is really something wrong or maybe this is what the cryptocurrency market is now normally running. We are expecting so HIGH for the industry but it is slowly failing us...maybe we should be changing what to expect. This is not anymore the market that can create generational wealth...in fact I would say that LOSSES are now piling up. Still, I am maintaining my faith because I was not able to get out when things are getting so cold.

I've known cryptos since 2017, I actively participate in the two main forums, I've mined crypto, I participate in airdrops, I'm a BTC hodler etc...
The price of BTC has reached 109k USD and it's not good?
Several altcoins have risen a lot from the bottom they had a few months ago...

Up until 2 or 3 months ago everyone was euphoric, and now the sentiment changes so quickly that everyone is tired, wanting to give up...

Just remember that those who had the courage to invest when the market fell, in all the previous years, were the ones who had the best returns

Your friend will be right about airdrops bounty, easy and free opportunities to earn hundreds of dollars. There is still the possibility of making good profits from Bitcoin but you have to start with serious investments as the chance of making +$100k from +$2k seems impossible.
Generally start with DCA and you will see your wallet grow over time.

Every time the prices of cryptocurrencies stagnate, people are always going to feel like its not going up forever. No wonder the prices dips further more and then panics for the rest of the holders.

I can say things have changed since the 2018 bear market. Even in 2021 the market is not so alive but there are still altcoins that reaches its heights. This 2024 only BTC and a handful of altcoins are rising. Its like everyone is only interested in BTC.

We should not be part of the influence that force some people to invest in cryptocurrency, because if anything should happen, they will blame us for being responsible, if he has decided not to invest again in crypto, then leave him on his own, by the time he continues to see other making profit and their life changing for good, he will learn a lesson and know what he is missing out, no one ever done the wrong thing and expect the perfect outcome of it, they are to be at fault for their ignorance and losses is the prize they are paying for it.

Someone who has only get involved with airdrops doesn't know real analysis about the market and doesn't focused on given the real facts about the industry because he only thinks an airdrops only. Usually to me all he said doesn't give me any cogent reasons to believe on his words concerning the market. As I know, we can't predict the market and anyone who have seems to be given up of the market can actually utilize the dip and get hold on more Bitcoin and wait when the market makes its movement back.

Then did he not feel the huge profit on December 17th and January 22nd?? What did he do when Bitcoin touched a new ATH, did he not sell it or did he wait until $1 million USD per BTC for his unrealistic prediction? We all want profit, but greed is not the path that must be taken..

Yesterday BTC was already experiencing a bullish period, but unfortunately your friend called you when the bearish period came, and as if he was a victim... yes I know, trading is not easy, but complaining is not a solution either... instead of deciding to leave, it's better to stop for a moment and try to evaluate all the decisions made previously

My friend must have been in the same generation as you when you first got to know cryptocurrency because your answer is exactly the same as his. You are also a Legendary member who understands the ins and outs of cryptocurrency very well.

I also got information from other community friends that some of his Bitcoins had been sold and he had bought real goods in 2021, including:

- 1 MPV Car
- 1 Cluster Housing
- 1 Ordinary house in the village

I'm sure he also has a lot of experience and assets that he doesn't mention to his friends (including the Bitcointalk and Altcoinstalks forum accounts) and in private. He just talked to me on the phone that the market is now flowing differently from 2021 back to 2013.
Maybe my assumption is that in 2013 - 2021 it was very easy to make money in cryptocurrency, including from Trading, Airdrop, Bounty, etc. but from 2021 until now it is not easy to make money from cryptocurrency and the market flow is different from the previous year.

I understand your friends frustration with the crypto market especially after years of ups and down. It is true that prices aren't like they were before and the market feels saturated. But I see crypto as an evolving space–new opportunities like defi, staking and blockchain innovations still hold potential. Instead of chasing past trends, adapting to the changing landscape might be a better approach. The market moves in cycles and white it is uncertain, I believe there's always something to learn and explore
