It's not new but just want to remind beginners about this scam. It's basically some scammer pretending to be a newbie asking for help about transferring funds from one wallet to another. They can put a seed with an amount of tokens but these tokens are only listed on fraudulent platforms or even real tokens but the master is linked to a fast bot that calculates any money you deposit. So do not try to download or accept files from people you do not know even if they ask for help.

If you know how seed works, you will really wonder why someone will just share their seed publicly, that's why you will think and will get suspicious. Even me before without knowing whats the scam method they are trying to pull before, i was never get victimized on such scheme.

This scam usually catches the greedy who think they have hit their luck and they are about to take someone else's money, so they usually do not get too much pity from people. If you fall for the trick and download something malicious into your device, then your funds will surely be stolen.

The trick is not new, but there are people in the crypto space who still fall to the old trick. Maybe because they are not informed about the trick, or they just want to play smart on someone's mistake of sharing their seed phrase, not actually knowing that it will backfire at them in another form they have no idea of. That suits them right as some people will say, to be contented with your own crypto wallet assets rather than looking at someone's own, trying to scam them

Yeap it is not new technique the scammers do, I don't know if you were active in the bitcointalk forum but there we saw these types of steps from the scammers after a few days gap by creating topic and asking for help.

And now altcointalk is also growing and I think this is why the scammers also pushing them here also. And I think this should be also aware they were also trying that exploiding method on casino's

Even though it's not a new scam method still it's more complicated one and aiming to steal money from the dishonest user who tried to steal money from someone else or atleast thought they're going to.

Moral is, no free money is waiting for you to grab just like that because critical.

The one I have seen was on Trx and what they did was to create a wallet that requires two secret phrases and then share one of the secret phrase on social media and the wallet usually contains USDT (in trx) and also some Trx but less than the amount required for gas fee so if you try to send the USDT out of the wallet you’ll be asked to top up the Trx for gas fee and as soon as you do and try to send it out you’ll get an error message and few minutes later your Trx will be sent to a different wallet leaving behind some of the Trx that is still not enough to cover the gas fee.

That’s basically how the whole scam works.

I've seen this many times on Facebook already.
I wonder if this way of scamming people really works?

I mean I know that there are greedy investors out there, and at the same time, newbie ones, but are there really investors who are falling into this type of scam? I hate to say this word, but if there are, they're just the dumbest of the dumb. Well, as I always say, people will not learn if they will not experience it first hand. Let them experience getting scammed and then from there, they will make adjustments. Whether they will will do research, or they will just let themselves be scammed.

Honestly, a message from a stranger was already suspicious enough for me, but when I saw a discussion about Monero on Electrum, it got even stranger... I began to realize that fraud always comes from something foreign... therefore, I began to learn to increase the privacy of my cellphone number and telegram so that I would not be easily contacted by unknown people...

This fraud method is honestly still new to me, because I have never experienced it... thank you for providing this valuable notice, I am sure some people who know this information will be saved in the future...

I don't think it's possible. If the wallet is multi-sig, then the 2-of-2 condition will not allow the scammer to successfully execute scam. Mostly it is a 2-o-f3 wallet and the scammer posts a phrase like (I have the wallet seeds but I can't withdrawal) with a screenshot like this and sharing wallet seed

This feels like a different case. Did you get this message recently? I remember seeing so many DMs from strangers when I joined many crypto groups on Telegram. If you joined a lot of groups that's probably where they got your account from. AFAIK, they don't have to know your phone number to contact you on Telegram. Things will be different if we're talking about direct phone calls though. If you use your phone number to create an account on an online marketplace maybe you should reduce that. I believe those apps sell our data because I got so many spam calls in recent months.

Of course, they do. As long as the company is not trusted, you shouldn't use your personal details with them, and sometimes even the trusted ones do it because it gets them good money. Besides, we give them consent to do that when we agree with their terms and conditions because we barely read them, and somewhere in there, they have it written that the information we provide can be used for marketing purposes and other stuff.

When it comes to scams such as the one being discussed in this thread, these things have been happening for a very long time in social media, especially Facebook and comments section in Twitter, and the reason why some people fall for them is a lack of knowledge, they believe its an opportunity to get rich, but they don't realize its a trap for them.

I completely agree, i don't know how dumb people are to think that someone will just expose their seed phrase that easily. Greedy and dishonest people are very easy to scam, that is why they easily fall for baits set by these criminals and they let them take their money.

i suggest everyone to read more in the provided link because it is actually more deliberate and complicated than you might think

whoever made this scam method has put in a lot of thought, effort and time into making every single component believable and properly executed it is very smart because basically the scammer is taking advantage of those who also want to steal from other people it kind of is karma to be honest because you would not be stolen from if you werent attracted to the leaked seed phrases of a wealthy person
