full time or part time trader?
« on: March 15, 2025, 04:36:42 AM »
we all have different opinions as well as strategies when it comes to trading i have encountered some people say that they think trading shouldn’t be your main source of income and instead be only treated as a side hustle

but can you really be profitable if you only trade on the side? isn’t better to dedicate much of your time and resources to trading to maximize profit? or is trading as a side hustle with a main job sufficient and profitable enough?

Trading should not be seen as a full time or side hustle. It should be not be seen as a means of earning money unless the trader has tried to make money from it and see what happens in some months after using small amount of money on it. That will determine how he will think about trading.

But no matter what, even if you make money from trading (but which it probability is very low from happening), make sure you do not make it a full time job. Have businesses that will earn you money.

Taking trading  as a full time job isn’t advisable have another source of income rather than depending on trading as a full time job. Trading can make you a millionaire in a day and can still make you poor in a day when your capital is been swept and your strategy didn’t go as plan and the market went sideways. Some really do take trading as a full time job but it advisable to have another source of income rather than depending on trading.

Professional traders do take trading as a full time job base on the big profits they have made from the market but as for most of traders you have little capital try and look for another source of income not taking trading as a full time job.
For instance if your capital get swept and you took trading as a full time work where will you get another capital to start again when you don’t have any means of income this is one of the biggest risk in it.
Having a better and reliable source of income will give you advantages over your trading and you can trade without fear and trauma cause you have another source of income.

It is better to dedicate time to something, whether trading or starting a company. It depends on the person's risk tolerance whether he would go with it or not. The important thing is that he should know and shouldn't. Many people could trade, but being profitable also takes guts.

You can be profitable part-time if you have people who give you something. You could benefit from it.

We must be able to know the kind of trader while belong, maybe we are into full time trading or part time trading, this will also depends on our expertise on it, trading have to come with a particular strategy we are going into be using for it, this will determine whether we are going to make it trading or not, while some could also manage to combine the two all together for their maximum productivities.

Of course part time trading because I am involved in a business due to which I get time to devote to crypto. Moreover, I am not very good at trading due to which I cannot always make a profit. Since there is a risk of losing money when you trading without powerful knowledge, I am involved in a business to manage my life. Anyway, trading can take you anywhere from rich to poor, so you should start trading with sufficient experience. Suppose you have been trading full time and lost money, so to start trading again then you need capital. So which is why we should be connected to a business or job.

I don't know if there will be users here that will not believe in them, but I've seen traders online that seems profitable in their trading journey. Is trading only their source of income? No, and they still have some other sources, but most of the income they're making on a monthly basis are coming off of trading. These are experts who are making huge amounts of money through trading.

Trading can be either a side hustle or a main job, but there will be some factors to it as well like your monthly source income on your main job, how stressful you are on your main job, etc. I'm not a full-time trader (I wanted to though), but in order to have some funds to trade, I need to work for 8 hours for quite some time. :D

Full time traders or part time traders can be profitable. But many full time traders have not been profitable because they thought they had enough knowledge in trading to make their winnings consistent but it was not. That's why I belong to the part time trader because there is only one setup I look for in the market and it is not be seen every day. I am not sure that this will be able to cover my daily expenses.

I am also a part-time trader, where I trade when I have free time. because I have a business in real life. and I realize that I am not a professional trader, this is what makes me decide not to trade full time.
although many friends leave their real-world jobs and focus on trading, but for me that will not be done because my family and I have needs.

There is no consensus on this issue, as it varies from person to person depending on their capital, experience, mood, and many other factors.

For example, I prefer part-time trading to full-time trading because I don't have a large capital and I have other jobs that prevent me from monitoring indicators, the market, analysis, and so on all the time.

Also, if you invest all your capital in trading and the market declines significantly, all your assets may be tied up in trades, and you won't be able to sell at a loss. Therefore, you'll need another source of money.

If you are trading as your only source of income, you will be under intense pressure to always trade, and that is not adviceable for any trader. Successful traders do not always trade in the market, and they have time they just observe. Some are able to do so because they have other sources of income that reduce the pressure on them.

If you have other sources of income and have the intention to become a trader, it is not a good plan to abandon that source of income because of trading. You will be a better trader when you are not trading under pressure.

What if seasonal trader?
I mean, I don't do trading activities that often, only at certain times, and if I want to. Because I can't really analyze and focus that much when trading. But overall, I'm just a part-time trader. and not too motivated to get a certain profit. However, usually during altcoin season it is a time that is often used for trading.

But, for those who concern in trading activities, both part time or even full time, just do it as you like it and as you can afford to loose.

I think the answer to this and the results will differ on a case to case basis. Some people spend less time but more resources, trade only when they got time and get good profit from it. Some do it full-time, spending most of their time on it, but have smaller capital, so they earn less. It also depends on your experience and knowledge of the market.

People who say trading shouldn't be your main source of income know nothing about trading and its potential. If you have a good capital, enough time, and ample experience about the market, you can make a fortune out of trading and it can make your life extremely easy because once you have mastered it, you wouldn't need to spend too much time on it. Take a few trades, and enjoy the rest of your time chilling or spend the time with your friends and family.

we all have different opinions as well as strategies when it comes to trading i have encountered some people say that they think trading shouldn’t be your main source of income and instead be only treated as a side hustle

but can you really be profitable if you only trade on the side? isn’t better to dedicate much of your time and resources to trading to maximize profit? or is trading as a side hustle with a main job sufficient and profitable enough?
if trading activities are very possible to be used as a main income, why not? Of course, we all can have good potential when we can maximize our potential in trading ... however, the risk in trading must also be accepted as an inseparable part ... such as, trading can indeed make us earn money, but we can also lose money ... unlike jobs in general, where we sell our energy and thoughts through work to earn money, while trading is also selling our luck when making decisions ...

Usually people are afraid to make trading their main income because they have not been able to accept the big risks behind trading .. so it is natural for them if they want to survive in life, they must still have a stable income ..

Totally possible but its not something that you can be able to achieve so easily and thats why there are tons of people who had been failing out on doing such thing because they were really that too desperate on trying out to reach out such state. Yes. this is indeed possible but its not something that  very easy that you can be able to achieve in a short period of time or with some minimal loses. We do know that market volatility could really be able to give out that kind of chances or opportunities that you can make money out of those movements. This is why it will really be that in accordance into your own preference yet there would really be those times or moment that you will really be having your own job on which you will be having that extra time to deal on with things.
