Though it depends on the one they want to learn because a normal Bitcoin investment does not take time at all because how people do it is that they will tell the person who wants to learn to open an account were they will be buying small small while they're learning so that they would be seeing what the mentor has been telling them, though this method varies from mentors because not all will tell the person they're just teaching to start buying so that they would be sure the person understand perfectly to avoid putting any blame on the person..
Regular investing in Bitcoin doesn't require much time. as long as you simply buy at the best price now and then hold it over the long term until you get the right selling price..

However, I prefer to teach the investor the basics of Bitcoin, such as the wallet, seed, private key, and the most important security principles, before investing. This helps ensure they are well-protected, as beginners are easily exposed to fraud if they do not understand security principles.

We should be happy when we hear someone who's interested on putting money where his mouth is with Bitcoin. Because not all that we talk to about Bitcoin has the same interest as us. Teach them all the way but don't hype them, tell them about volatility and the risks that they are taking too. It is not an easy path but they will soon realize how it will be for them. Unlike the people or relatives that they have that are only interested because they've seen us profited from it and then suddenly, they will be discouraged on how tough the road it will be for them.
Exactly mate. I feel that because most of us here do understand Bitcoin investment very well, a lot of us forget to note that there are several people out there who's knowledge about Bitcoin investment are very limited and that's why we don't see it as a big deal when one discusses about convincing a newbie to invest in Bitcoin.
Out of all the persons I introduced Bitcoin, less than 25% of them had enough courage to invest after I told them about the volatility of the Bitcoin market and the risks involved.

The more people know about bitcoin the better for the crypto community and less scams for crypto users. Btw if you still debating on whether to teach him or not, look at it this way...the fact that your family knows that you into Bitcoin for a long time means that, should you family member be scammed, the blame will be on you the veteran for not providing the information to safe guard himself..the best is to give home the rope and tell him the do's and don'ts.

And since his new, let him not go all in...go the DCA way so that he sees price movements, knows how to use an exchange, probably even mix coins using mixers like CoinTor etcetera  8)

Ten thousand dollars is a lot especially if he doesn't comprehend the principles now I'd advice don’t discourage him but absolutely help him learn first. Maybe sit with him and explain how wallets works, what private keys and seed phrases are and the risks of scams. You don’t need to go too deep at once simply the fundamentals so he doesn’t lose anything by accident.

He has about $10,000, and I think he wants to buy Bitcoin with it (that's a lot of money here in my country). The problem is that he doesn't know anything about Bitcoin, nor does he know anything about storing Bitcoin in a non-custodial wallet, or anything like that. So, I'm afraid that if I advise him to buy, he won't be able to store Bitcoin properly, such as by not keeping his seed in a secure place or giving the private key to some scammers, etc.

What do you think? Should I advise him to buy, and what are the basics I should teach him? Or is it better to let him learn on his own and make his own decisions?
If he is investing the entire $10,000 in bitcoin, I would tell you that it's too risky to let him learn anything on his own, I believe you are his brother for a reason, and it doesn't matter whether he is older or you are older, at this particular moment and Time and based on this subject, he is totally your responsibility as long as you have been in this space long enough and understand the dos and don't better than him who is just taking his first step into the water..

Teach him thoroughly on how to secure his bitcoin using non-custodial wallet, if possible, I would advice you advice him on the impotance of getting himself a hardware wallet, because if I have $10,000 to invest in crypto for the long term, I wouldnt be holding the crypto on any online wallet even if it its a non-custodial wallet, it is commonly said that one can never be too careful and it's a fact.

A $10,000 investment is significant, and jumping in blindly risks devastating losses, sitting down to explain fundamentals like wallets, private keys, and seed phrases is crucial. Wallets store crypto securely private keys grant access, and seed phrases recover funds if keys are lost. Stress the risks scams, phishing, and exchange hacks are rampant. Keeping it simple avoids overwhelming them while building confidence. Suggest starting small, using reputable platforms, and practicing with test transactions. This aligns with your cautious yet educational stance, ensuring they learn without accidental losses, much like you’re nurturing your familys crypto knowledge for long term security

Not everyone has high confidence in Bitcoin.. just like you compared to one of your family members,... when you succeed in Bitcoin, and you suggest Bitcoin to your family members, don't forget about the risks that your family members might experience... their emotions are not the same as yours, so when you can't accompany what their needs are, and how their emotions are when they see their assets decrease in value, you will trouble yourself...

Make your own decision, by investing according to your wishes... those who want to invest in Bitcoin, please... those who refuse it are fine... even those who want to learn, please... there is no obligation in Bitcoin....

This is really the best thing to consider first to know the risk so that he can make his family member to be aware of those scams and other risk that might compromise them financially.

But for sure he know what to do and since he teach his family member about this things then provably that he can guide them so well towards what best thing to do including on how they can avoid any potential scams. I also do the same just like what OP did since I want my family member especially those young generation to know about Bitcoin since its good for them not to missed this one since there's good opportunity for investing and other things they could get from Bitcoin and other related industries.

Today, I saw my brother and he told me that his son, who works in the grocery business, had heard that Bitcoin had become very popular and its price was rising, and he was thinking of buying some Bitcoin to Hold it.

I was happy to hear this news, even though my family knows I've been involved in Bitcoin for a long time. However, it didn't attract their attention when the price was low. Instead, it attracted their attention when the price was high. This is what happened to many people who missed out on buying early at low prices.

He has about $10,000, and I think he wants to buy Bitcoin with it (that's a lot of money here in my country). The problem is that he doesn't know anything about Bitcoin, nor does he know anything about storing Bitcoin in a non-custodial wallet, or anything like that. What do you think? Should I advise him to buy, and what are the basics I should teach him? Or is it better to let him learn on his own and make his own decisions?

Thats impressive, but honestly mate, i personally believe that entering the Crypto space having zero knowledge of it is just like you are gambling with your money Because one does not have sufficient knowledge about wallets, one does not have sufficient knowledge; phishing scams are a way more disadvantageous thing to that person.

Other than that, as he is your family member, you may guide him to start his new journey, and this thing will surely help him a lot to avoid many crypto space mistakes.
