About buying votes, it's not uncommon these days. In some pageant I watched in the past, people voted by buying some 'entries' as part of a fund raising campaign of the organizers. In several reality TV shows, viewers vote for their favorite contestant via text messages (which is also like buying a load before they could vote).

Politicians buying votes is another matter though

Altcoinstalks is not big enough for lots of people to seriously think about abusing the forum via bots, karma farms, voting abuse, and other things like that you see on other forums.

I'm not in favor of another bar, ticker, or anything. There are already too many things that distract me. Now there is also a voting bar next to the 365 news bar, animated ads at the top of the page, additional ads within the topic, a post with rules...

I thin after this we need to freeze the home page and stop adding new banners and moving widgets, otherwise this place will work worse than 2000's AOL homepage, which was unusabe by the way.

well technically there are only 2 bigger forums: bitcointalk and reddit (if you want to call it a forum), reddit is more about subreddits, in this case, no crypto subreddit is bigger than altcoinstalks.
 Abuse has been taking place on this forum since few years, and we have many people on this forum fighting day and night the abuse, including the forum's president and decentralised team.

If i would have followed what users wanted and kept things as they are, this forum would have been dead in 2018-2019

Choosing the right strategy is key.

However, I would listen to what users say, even those who are active on the forum. In the end, users are the ones who give value to the forum, not banners or similar things. Without users, no one forum has any value.

Department will no longer target virtual currency exchanges, mixing and tumbling services, and offline wallets for the acts of their end users or unwitting violations of regulations

theymos said he might consider approving the mixer's return to Bitcointalk depending on the Trump administration's consistency. Returning the mixer to BTT will certainly hurt the activity of ALTT

dude we have existed since 2017, if we shut down tomorrow, i'll call it a good run and move on

that's not how i roll, not in this project nor in any project, i do not clone if i can't add some value.
while many guys are thinking about the requirements for their signature campaign, they don't think oh these banners are what help keep the bills for hosting paid ..
they don't think ohh the news bar is a wider strategy to bring more people into the forum (and not only bounty hunters), and they don't think ahh the voting bar is to take advantage of the meme coin madness and bring meme coin investors to this forum ....

Nobody expects this forum to be a Bitcointalk clone. It is not necessary.
But Bitcointalk also developed based on members' suggestions and many improvements came based on constructive discussions.

Don't take criticism as something negative. I guess it's better when you have users who have the integrity to criticize when they notice something isn't right than when everyone praises and glorifies you. I guess it's more beneficial to have an honest opinion than to pretend.

I ha e been receiving notifications from the admin on this topics recently and I decided to check what is happening and this is the first time I am seeing the voting bar coins bar at the top of the forum and I clicked one of the coins and it licked me to a thread but I was thinking that it would direct m to the website of the coin.

The details explanation of the voting bar is very good but the memes user project thread didn't explain his mem coin the way the admin said foe people to know the kind of coin.

Nobody expects this forum to be a Bitcointalk clone. It is not necessary.

They do though, quite often. From wanting a pointless bump feature to airdropping karma. Not always, but often enough the idea is to replicate rather than recreate, which is quite frankly very boring and also not the reason why I am involved in this forum. And I certainly don't always agree with admin in decisions he makes, for example the "quality bar" I was opposed to, but on this one things like the earnings section placement at top, annoying voting bars, banners and the like, is all basic forum administration that is required here for numerous reasons.
 
You don't have to like every aspect of this forum to stick around, nor have it tailored to your specific design preference to engage with the community. It's much more important that the layout in beneficial to guests, ie potential new users, as well as advertisers, and anyone else considering throwing money in the forums direction generally. It's like when people complain about advertising on social media, like what do you expect, platforms to just run for decades on free funding? It's just not how the world works is it.

you guys were right, the news bar was no optimized and was indeed using up processing power, i realised it later and then remembered the remarks
hence removed it till i am able to optimize it.

the idea is not just to put anything, even if it is user unfriendly, i try to balance what is needed and what is liked.

in the past we had 2 banners on top, that got replaced with a single one.

i refuse some offers that can bring nice money to the forum in order to keep things neat and visually acceptable.

For now, maybe instead of 5x "listed coin" you could reduce it to 4x, as well as make it a regular font and not bold. So maybe it could be readable even within the margins.
There aren't too many listed coins at the moment, so there's no need for too many "empty slots".
