World Food Program USA Accepts Bitcoin and Dogecoin Donations After Funding Cuts
Since donations are tax deductible, the WFP noted, they enable crypto investors to offset capital gains.

The World Food Program USA is now accepting donations in more than 80 cryptocurrencies. That includes the likes of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDC, but also allows for donations in ApeCoin, BONK, and Dogecoin.

The partnership is part of WFP USA's wider ambitions to raise $25 million through the Emergency Hunger Relief Fund—and plug gaps in initiatives "that provide lifelong assistance to 58 million people on the brink of starvation."... Read more here.

you are right but to me a win is a win and certainly for them too they knew of bitcoin they knew how it could be helpful to them and they took advantage when they needed it most it does not matter if they are now only doing it due to lack of funding but they still found a solution and now anyone who wants to donate can do it in bitcoin you will be helping hungry people at the same time promoting bitcoin and showcasing it

If its really going to the places they mentioned in that article. Afghanistan, Syria and Yemen. Seems too much of a good offer because as far as I know they are in war with Yemen.

In my opinion, it is a mix of new technology or modern technology applying cryptocurrencies as the mode of payment and then the application where it is used for a humanitarian approach for feeding other people; it can attract those with a lot of cryptocurrency.

Anyway, I think the funding and the high goal that they have are very ambitious, but it’s really a different thing, and those benefits with the tax cuts are very intriguing for those who are looking for that.

It may be the start of a revolution with cryptocurrencies for funding.

Yes, specially Yemen, they have been bombarding the borders of that country because of the houties and hte proxy war that is on-going with US. So it's really weird that some of the donations are going to the countries that they are hostile or at a silent war. In any case, it just proved that crypto has no boundaries, and the cause is good and so I won't be surprised if it will raise millions to help those that are in need or what the program deem most important right now.

Western countries have already become cashless, so the addition of cryptocurrency is a good idea. I know people can always use their cards to donate, but since they accept crypto donations, people may become a little more interested. Also, it is good to see that they are accepting crypto. At least a few more new people will know about crypto.

Since the World Food Program accepts crypto donations, people will become curious and interested in knowing more about cryptocurrency. 80% of the total population in my country doesn't know anything about crypto yet. I hope the percentage is not that big in the USA.

or the Chief Philanthropy Officer who makes $373,023 a year.

The idea is a very good one, because the cause is good. People who want to donate in cryptocurrencies now have 80 options to choose from. If fundings cut and this is going to give it a boost, then i completely support the move and i hope they get donations through this means.

Every organization or institution, and even governments, are now joining the moving trend. There is really no point for any of these institutions to ignore crypto at this point. Crypto is the currency of the new generation; any institution that wants to get more support from this new generation would have to do things their way.

I applaud this move, and I believe that more donations will come in crypto, especially from those who wish to remain anonymous.

The adoption of bitcoin is gradually growing now and it is good when the big institutions are accept Cryptocurrencies because it will make Cryptocurrencies more popular. The next thing for us to hear is for the government to payment workers with cryptocurrency and once many countries do that then cryptocurrency will become an international currency. LOL yeah at those mentioned officers getting paid a lot for accepting donations This is not the first time I've heard of charity projects that accepts crypto donations. Some developers even tried to launch a token before. I personally don't like handing out funds (crypto/fiat) to organizations like this but it's still nice to see them utilize crypto.

I don't think these salaries are due to their acceptance of cryptocurrencies. Most cryptocurrencies are accepted through third-party payment processors that charge a ~1-5% transaction fee.

That can be the biggest reason the Trump administration cut their funding all because the people behind this organization do not know how to manage their money...they are all about wastage. And if they are throwing big money to the people at the top, am sure they are also good at throwing money anywhere they want. I am not against charity but we should be wary of organizations using the misery of others to first make money for themselves and then just use the cause to gain media mileage for more money to come. And yes, it is good they are now into cryptocurrency but they should make their organization clean and slim first. Sadly this malady is not just affecting WFP but also similar organizations who are into charity and causes.
