It is very simple to legalize bitcoin in all the countries if the citizens want it. And all they have to do is to sponsor bitcoin enthusiast in the Presidential Seat and make sure that he win the election and once he wins the election, he has to appoint another bitcoin enthusiast to be his special adviser, and other cabinet members like Ministers should also be crypto friendly people then with that Bitcoin will be legalize in many countries.

And if the candidate is not a bitcoin advocate before the crypto whales should sponsor him to win the election and that was what Elon Musk and others did in the America recent election and they are in the corridor of power. And things are changing in US now. Though they have not officially adopted bitcoin as a legal tender.

The thing is in most countries that bitcoin is still not a legal tender the citizens actually want it as a legal tender but for some reason the government still doesn't allow it legally. However I have also noticed that it doesn't actually stop some citizens from making use of Bitcoin specially as holdings.

Also one thing you need to understand is that even if these so-called ministers and speakers where bitcoiners most of them will actually be concerned more about their personal gains.

Re: What do we need to do to get Bitcoin legalized??
« Reply #17 on: April 12, 2025, 10:58:04 PM »
Small communities like us, what can we do to influence the government to legalize Bitcoin? It seems like this will be very difficult. The price of Bitcoin fluctuates very high and the decentralized nature of Bitcoin are the main reasons for the government not to legalize it, maybe what we can do is stay active in cryptocurrency, continue to invest, trade and others. Or if the government does not legalize it, that's okay, as long as there is no ban on activities in cryptocurrency, that's good.
In our country, Bitcoin has been legalized for investment. It is only illegal for payment purpose. This condition is quite fair for us, the government has legalized it as an asset at least. It needs time to make it fully legalized, the government needs to revise the laws if Bitcoin to be accepted as payment tool. This is something quite difficult to happen because it is the basic laws in our country.

Well, contributing in any aspect of Bitcoin/crypto industry is good thing. It may trigger more people to do the same way. If there are more people to do it, it may trigger the government to decide friendly policy.

Answering title of this thread, it depends on where you live. Usually it comes down to either petition, initiative or lobbying, although i doubt it'll end success without money and support from influential people. For example, on EU your initiative will be discussed by EU commission if it can get 1 million signature.

Since there is a good demand for Bitcoin by people, I think if it is legalized, everyone will probably use Bitcoin as an investment and transaction.

Most people prefer hold their Bitcoin, rather than spending it though. Even Bitcoin enthusiast probably only spend their Bitcoin on few occasion.

There is not much we can do, to be honest. Heads of state have attempted to make Bitcoin legal tender but the IMF makes them rescind the legalized status if they want to apply for more IMF (more like EU/US) loans.

Only a sovereign nation that is not beholden to debts can do such a thing permanently IMO.

Yes, it is true that Bitcoin in our country is not prohibited to be traded and invested, but it is still not allowed as a means of payment. I am happy to live in this country, even though there is a tax on income for our income from crypto it is not a problem. Now we have to be more active in cryptocurrency, so that we can generate good and maximum income.

It can't be legalized in all countries due to some regulation issues so maybe we just need majority of countries legalizing Bitcoin so that whenever we are in we can use it or we can buy and sell without any problem. Though here in my country Bitcoin isn't illegal but hopefully the regulation in the future won't affect the smoothness of Bitcoin trading in here.

There is nothing we can do to compel the government to legalise Bitcoin. They will realise it on their own and do the needful when they are willing to. We can see how the US and other countries are now incorporating Bitcoin into their economic decisions,  it wasn't like that years ago. Many of them actually knew what Bitcoin was but kept fighting it because they were yet to figure out a proper way to regulate it. Once any government figures out how to properly regulate Bitcoin, they will start considering it. But for now, there is really nothing we can do.

Re: What do we need to do to get Bitcoin legalized??

There is nothing we can do to compel the government to legalise Bitcoin. They will realise it on their own and do the needful when they are willing to. We can see how the US and other countries are now incorporating Bitcoin into their economic decisions,  it wasn't like that years ago. Many of them actually knew what Bitcoin was but kept fighting it because they were yet to figure out a proper way to regulate it. Once any government figures out how to properly regulate Bitcoin, they will start considering it. But for now, there is really nothing we can do.

As far as I know about Bangladesh, although Bangladesh uses Bitcoin to a very limited extent and is known to be trading, according to the laws of Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Bank has stated that it is illegal to buy, sell and store Bitcoin or any other fiat currency. Although Bangladesh has not yet legalized Bitcoin, many people still transact with it and use it. Bangladesh Bank Spokesperson and Executive Director Sirajul Islam told BBC Bangla that Bitcoin has no approval in Bangladesh. And since there is no report of it, its transaction and use are considered completely illegal.

          -     Sometimes I wonder if it's really good for bitcoin to be legal in a country? If I look at it, the good side is that bitcoin adoption in a country will be bought, which means that more people will actually make transactions here and more merchants will use it as a mode of payments in their business.

But the bad side is that there will be a tax deduction on every earnings we get from bitcoin, it may seem negative but it still seems okay in my opinion. Because our account wallets will be more secure. I guess if I'm not mistaken, right?

Many governments are still sceptical even though it's clear as day that BTC would be a great alternative on such a higher level too - big entities are still scared to consider it in many places, but many would follow up the examples we see today, here and now.

I don't think there is anything we can do to make government legalize Bitcoin in all geographical regions of the world. It will largely depend on every governments choice. I think that many countries are still skeptic about Bitcoin dominance over faits in my opinion.
It will be a big boost to the crypto community if more countries should emulate Elsalvado's example. However, any thing can happen, i still believe that some countries may adopt bitcoin in near future

First of all, the government must conduct research and of course it must be adjusted to the circumstances of a country, because each country has its own regulations. In El Salvador it may be easy to implement but of course there are some conflicts that occur, just like in other countries and there will definitely be conflicts regarding crypto regulation.

In the future, there may be other countries that start to adopt it fully besides El Salvador, but there are certainly many considerations to be made.
In my country, crypto is a commodity and should not exceed these regulations.

I think Trump is already on the way to make Bitcoin legal in every country. If countries are going to evade the USS international trades then they might be force to adopt Bitcoin.

But on the local side of things, it going to be hard to see it adopt widely because even today, only those techie financial guys are up to Bitcoin and rest are still up making fiat money.

As far as Bitcoin is concerned, we are not anymore in the era of the wild, Wild West hence many countries have already adopted appropriate regulation's to make sure that people will treat Bitcoin they way it should be and not be used for illegal tricks, Now, of course, it can help if there will be more and more people who are into Bitcoin because that can lead for the government to listen to their constituents but I think the most important factor is the understanding and appreciation of the people in power. As we have seen in China, the government just put a blanket ban on Bitcoin even if there is a strong investment and use in and of Bitcoin. With all the milestones already achieved by Bitcoin in the past many years, the road to mainstream adoption has not yet been reached but I know that we can be there in the right time.
