The difference between the two is that when you trade bitcoin in futures, you can quickly get a profit in USDT if this is the category you choose. I don't think so, because I'm not a trader. I'll share the perspective of a holder in the crypto market, and honestly, I'm not a fan of BTC.

BTC has greater stability than most altcoins in this market, and many traders like to trade BTC because they can apply technical analysis methods more accurately. I agree with you friend because I also find BTC very easy because it is not that volatile and the data is just too much that we can learn a lot from this. I first traded in Gala AFAIK and I was doing spot trading in it, when I traded it I did not know anything about BTC I don't even observe the price movements of BTC.

Recently when I started trading again, I till now, had understand the importance of BTC movement if we even want to trade in alts, so everytime I trade in alt, I first observe the price movement of the BTC then make trade.

Definitely bitcoin is the big and main crypto boss let me just put it that way altcoin are just like subordinates or just adverbs cause without the bitcoin altcoin won’t be found or has use. If bitcoin is being removed from the crypto currency’s space then digital currency will crash  and many will loss a lot and many will definitely leave crypto currency world cause it of no use to them when bitcoin is removed.
