Have you ever bought something you didn't need

This has happened to a lot of us, you get some money and then you start buying things that you do not even need. It could be a car, when you work remotely and you find out you haven't driven it for weeks, or an expensive watch, when you have enough wristwatches, etc. What is that thing you bought when you got a good amount of money, only for you to later find out that you actually didn't need the item.

No, I don't, and peer pressure doesn't affect me. I use android and I am never going to fall for the Apple pride and yes I do have a few watches in my collection, but not that expensive, and I rarely wear them recent days. Buy shirts once in a while and that's it.

I always get the temptations when it comes to gadgets, but I just curb my feelings that the urge fades away once I get the product in my hands.

I am not that kind of guy that buys things that I don't need. I bought gadgets but I am using them for my productivity and that's why there is no regret for me. Whatever expensive things that I'll buy in the near future, I'll make sure that they are worth it and I am going enjoy them because I've worked hard for it. I think that wealthiest really spends a lot of money for luxuries like cars, expensive watches, bling blings, etc.

Yeah, during 2021 bull market, I bought subscription to some airdrop platform for about $150, money was falling from sky then, so I was careless about it. That subscription helped me shit all.

for some of us who are not that rich we tend to splurge even on small things like food sometimes eating out on fastfood can be an overindulgence already when we could have stayed at home

how rich are you to accidentally purchase a car that you will later on discover you don’t need? lol people who buy cars but aren’t that rich will have to plan for it and save up so it’s rarely that they will not find purpose for the car

I do not fall for such pressure, but sometimes the temptation comes my way, but I just have to muster courage in resisting such at that moment because I know if I do that, I will regret it, so  I do not give in to the pressure. There was a period when I wanted to buy a gadget for myself, although it wasn't that necessary, but I just needed it and had the funds. I thought of it several times as something not so important for me, but just for fun. So I resisted the urge I always get to buy it, and to my greatest surprise, my friend bought it for me as a gift the following week.

I have done that on wristwatch, though not that I had so many but the ones i have was enough to serve me very well and there wasn't need for another but based on how that particular one looks like I became very attractive to me, perhaps it could be how it was designed because it wasn't the same style as the ones I had so that's how I bought the wristwatch I never should have bought, so beauty is one thing that makes people to buy things they didn't need because if you ask everyone who has done something like that they would have a similar reply.

Purchasing something that you do not need is called impulse buying, and most persons who lack financial discipline are susceptible to it. You can find someone with multiple pairs of shoes not because they have any special occasion but because they can afford to do so, and maybe they like it. Impulse buying is a luxury and something you should do while you are in a financially okay place, where you are confident of the source of income as constant.

I can't forget the day I bought Soya Beans. In July 2019, I went to the  Market Square Supermarket in my location and I bought many things and I bought Soya Beans which I have not used it before and I don't even knew it. But it was attractive so I bought when I got home, I opened it and tested one seed. God, it was tasteless and I couldn't even eat it so it was wasted and I throw it away.

Yeah, me too, i have friends who are using the most recent iphone products, if you ask some of them why they feel they must buy a new iphone once there is a new release, they do not even know. It is all due to the pressure to use the most recent device, but just like you, i do not care about such things.

Yeah, me too, i have friends who are using the most recent iphone products, if you ask some of them why they feel they must buy a new iphone once there is a new release, they do not even know. It is all due to the pressure to use the most recent device, but just like you, i do not care about such things.

Once you rise above marketing gimmicks, these new constant tech releases cease to influence you much. Companies launch new products every year saying, "this is best thing ever" but it has little extra compared to what you already own and there is no real value in purchasing it.

That’s right, things like this do happen or exist and one should be contented with what they have and always go for the best things that can be beneficial to them and also to others, getting what doesn’t have value or wanting to have what they can’t afford or what will not be of use at that moment, it’s such a waste and can cause one go bankrupt.

Most of the time, it's always dusty due to lack of use. I prefer using my phone to surf the internet and forums like this, but I thought that buying a laptop will enable me enjoy the fun more, but I feel reluctant to use the laptop because my phone is always with me anywhere I go.

When you do have the money then you would be trying out to buy up things on which it could neither be that something that you have seen someone do have it or just simply being jealous or your friend might have introduce or simply out of nowhere your mind just on point wanting to buy something and since you do have that money that you can be able to buy things you do want then you would definitely do it. Is it bad? In some sense specially if it affects your overall financial status but if you are someone whose capable enough on buying something without compromising something then i dont see any issues or problem with this. Even if you do find yourself seeing those things not that useful or not really needed but still you can just simply re-sell them and made money again.
People would be finding out on things on what it make them contented and as long you do have the funds then there's no problem into this.

I am in similar situation as you, although I haven't purchased laptop yet but I was thinking to purchase one for convenience of big screen but after reading your comment I am questioning myself whether I l'll be actually be using it much.
