What are your regrets in this crypto space?

When a new member enters crypto he needs to practice a lot because what is crypto currency and how it works, you have to practice everything then you should take action. In the past, everyone used to make fun of bitcoin but now everyone knows that the only profitable currency in crypto is bitcoin. I bought bitcoin about a year after I got into crypto because people weren't that hyped about bitcoin back then. There's a lot of hype surrounding crypto investing. For new investors it can be easy to get too caught up in it. Therefore, it is essential to have a solid basic knowledge of crypto technology before investing. You will lose money from where you enter in new situations, so strengthen your experience.

However, as a learning material and also experience, sometimes I think why not start holding Bitcoin very tightly since years ago so that if I still hold it now, the increase will be many times over. Why did I still buy some altcoins that are now backfiring and actually making assets drop.

But fortunately all of those experiences can be valuable lessons, which we can optimize now. There is no use in regret, all that matters is how we manage ourselves in the future and optimize it. Because the main goal is to increase existing profits.

Yes, it's a very expensive lessons to learn, but as human we really need that kind of experience to make the right decision in the future. So as I have said, move on in life don't look back and start all over again.

One of the recent ones is I regret spending less time on crypto for a few months a while ago because I'm working on another job. If I still participate in forum discussions and so on, I think I can collect more sats from contests, sig campaigns, etc. I think that would put me in a better position right now because I'd have much more savings if I did that. But well, no point regretting that forever. Other than regrets, people also need to learn to move on. While you can't change what happened in the past, you can still change your future.

So, what is the solution to some of the regrets people have here? Many regret not buying Bitcoin when it first appeared, all regret not being able to profit because the current Bitcoin price increase is so crazy... so,, what is the solution and lesson for these regrets?

Buy Bitcoin as soon as possible and then wait 5 years? So that in 2030 we don't regret our actions today? Surely, when bitcoin goes up to $500k / BTC in 2030, someone will also regret it, because why didn't they sell their house for bitcoin in 2025... when the price is so expensive now... WTF... please separate greed and regret...

There are newbies that will love to learn

Well, there have been a lot of regrets in my crypto investing journey, where too much naivety caused me to miss out on many opportunities.

In 2012, while learning C++, I naively believed that BTC was just a joke for gamers who needed a virtual currency payment method.

In 2017, I naively believed that ICOs would replace IPOs.

In 2021, I naively believed in the supercycle and that blockchain technology had truly been widely adopted in the tech industry.

In 2023, I naively believed that altcoins had greater potential than BTC.

Now, I'm trying to stay alert to learn and detect the first reversal signals to exit the market with a decent profit before the crypto winter of 2026-2027.

But honestly, I'm also afraid that I'll miss out on a massive BTC price surge in 2026 ^^

I invested in one project on the say of my best friend, he was way too bullish on that project well, I invested in that project on his saying, and as far as I remember that time project price was $40 and and I came down to $3-$4 haha means whatever I invested turned into the lose.

Well, I will never ever point it as his or mine fault, as I believe I learnt something that I would never invest anywhere without my own research haha, I knew DYOR is a must, but that time I did not do my research before investing in that project.

I don't really have any regrets to be honest, if i had been scammed and lost funds, then i would have said that i would have taken security seriously, but i haven't lost funds to scammers. My crypto journey has not had any regrets and i am glad i joined crypto forums to learn how to secure my funds.

And now it dawn to me that I make the biggest mistakes and regrets not moving it that time. I could have a lot of profits and it could have been a lot to me. Oh well, it's time to go and move on and continue today to save as much as I can.

Are all funds from your backup gone? It seems similar to mine, actually, I've been holding mine since 2015 until 2020. Around that year I saw the momentum in BTC—no downfall; it keeps increasing. That is why I checked my old hard drive where I save my offline backups, but after opening it and checking the address on an online PC, I saw nothing in my wallet. I can't remember if I already withdrew my balance, but I believe I never touched my funds there since 2015.
So I missed that opportunity to sell last 2021, when the BTC reached the new ATH and it was pandemic time. I regret holding it. I should transfer them into a much safer wallet generated from the Bitcoin Core wallet than any 3rd-party wallet.

I guess the biggest regret for most of us is not really going into Bitcoin early as we have heard it before. We just keep a cold shoulder, but then there is circumstances that we have crossed path with it again after years and then that's where we realized that it has gone so big.

Nevertheless, as the saying goes, the best time to buy Bitcoin is today and so with that, I keep keep on buying if my budget will allow me and not be feeling like guilt on the supposedly lost time that I didn't invest on Bitcoin.

Let me say that someone has paid me for my services with Bitcoin that year. But after the job is done, they ask me to create a Bitcoin address so I did that. But then I forget to move that Bitcoin in a address that I have total control because the payment is in a 3rd party, like a exchange. And so with that 3rd party changing hands or the business model has change, new owners and everything, I didn't withdraw my funds their until that sudden changes and so everything is lost. I still clinging on that I might have move in so I go and did check the Bitcoin address that I created but there's none. So obviously, it's a silly decision for me not to move it to a wallet that I have control because that time, I still didn't know about Bitcoin. I just took the job as a sort of experiment because it's easy one.

I have no regrets on this one.

I started learning cryptocurrency in the year 2017. As soon as I heard cryptocurrency, I researched immediately, learned it and invested as soon as I felt that I'm ready already. Some might say "Imagine if you know Bitcoin in 2012 blah blah blah." Just for context, during that time I'm just studying so even though I heard Bitcoin at that time or even in 2013, or 2014, I don't have the capacity to invest still because I don't have my own money. Yes, for some it might be a regret, but not for me.

I'm just happy that I learned about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency and I don't see any regrettable experiences in my part.

Am now sure now there are really many people like us here in the exciting cryptocurrency industry. When we started we believe on things we assumed to be true and which later on we find to be naive and unfounded. During the ICO days, I have this assumption that a successful project that made it to some exchanges would stay there in the top hence I never sold until such time that only 10% of the original value got retained...in the end I sold at a loss. Unfortunately, the same malady is still affecting me right now as I am sometimes stubborn on holding on even if the market is getting sour. In our journey, we learned many things that resulted into gains and many times losses.

The majority of regrets will be about not starting to invest in it earlier, and this is common. This is a regret to shake off because the opportunity to invest is still here, and if you will just lock in and focus on accumulation, you will be shocked how much you would have had invested in a very short time.
