Maybe they are just now exposing the possible bugs and want bounties. I’m not sure if they could be classified as white hackers; maybe they are still on the grey side.

It could be a show of skill as well, so better watch out for those who are operating businesses that have large amounts of money

I am just wondering because we hardly hear of hackers returning their stolen funds this days.

Yeah, it's definitely unusual move. But i would speculate it's partly because difficulty of spending or laundering coin they stole effectively.
but they can also just remind that there is nothing unsafe on every platform or various blockchains, all can be taken over by people who are indeed capable in this matter, the problem of money laundering from hacking can also be the reason they return funds where as we know they hacked will not be able to be sold or diverted in short time , what's more on local exchanges they will be detected by the exchange, it's the same as them surrendering themselves

As stated in the article from the link OP posted, it is obvious that the hackers are now acting as the owner of the funds now trying to make a negotiation of 20% from the bounty.
For the reason of weak security, Loopscale is now subjected to make a deal with hacker...
It sounds funny...

Though it is much more better than the Bybit Hack... But don't any of you think these hackers could still find a way of doing something related to hacking activity during the Bounty?

You mean hack Loopscale again or not follow any of the stated terms? If these hackers are actually real, it would be stupid for them to do something like that. They can if they want to but I think there would be more people participating in tracking them down. That's more headache.

I'm thinking they could try to do something fishy to claim cumbersome part of the bounty so nobody would term it as a hack or scam. Getting to cyphone the larger part plus their 20% as negotiated with Loopscale.

Though it's just a thought, there could be ideas from other members that may prove me wrong because I still feel these guys may be up to something.

Few weeks ago the Lazarus group successful hacked the Bybit exchange some good quantities of Ether token worth around $1.2 billion.
Another group of hackers, called the, "Loopscale"  also successfully hacked a Solana Defi protocol platform some amount of Sol token worth around $5.7m.
Now, this Loopscale hackers became lenient, and they decided to return the stolen funds for a bounty.

I am just wondering because we hardly hear of hackers returning their stolen funds this days.
I think it is my 3rd or 4th time hearing that hackers return the stolen funds back, if you will ask GPT or Google about such events in the past till 2021 you will find many. This is not the first time, though, I think they do it for fun and yeah for bounty too. As we know, they can get into real trouble if they don't have worldwide cyber resources to cover their tracks, so the better way is to return the funds and ask for hefty bounty.

I last remember in the last case, hackers returned all of the funds. This is really crazy and cool at the same time, I mean if someone have that much knowledge and they made that much money, and think for a second that if they could easily run away with that money too, and still they chose to return the funds, what a cool group of hackers, although never heard of this group before, I think it is not that famous, but now they are famous as well.

It could be a show of skill as well, so better watch out for those who are operating businesses that have large amounts of money
I don't think it is a show of skill or anything like that, the hackers simply chose to get money they can spend easily, rather that one they have to spend money and time to launder, and they may still be tracked and the funds returned to the owners. Businesses that hold a lot of customers funds should always take security seriously, not just because of this.

You may be right, I also thought that Loopscale hackers could be out for hacking fun, and some how, wanted to display their capabilities, though with a bounty rewards. Just like they say,  "At nothing goes for nothing", the bounty rewards could be a proof that the platform has many loopholes and the asking bounty rewards might be their fee for detecting this loopholes on the company's website.

The situation raises a lot of concern about the potential risk and implications of bug bounty programs, while this program may be rewarding they can also be use for exploit by criminal actors, hackers may use bug bounty rewards as way to validate their actions and profits from stolen assets.

I am just wondering because we hardly hear of hackers returning their stolen funds this days.
That is just a statement to say that they may actually just be hacking and doing it for fun, not because of the finance, because if it was for finance, they would have gotten it already.

Some of these hackers set new challenges for themselves, and some of them include trying to break into more secure apps and servers.
