No, I am not going all because just like you I could not afford it plus I still have to renew my passport so that means I can not go abroad just yet. Yes, there is a truth to that saying you quoted above and it is because there is value with the people you know and for companies those people can include their very own clients and customers. Business is all about connections and here in the cryptocurrency market that includes our interactions with real people and that is why projects are always building up the community of people supporting their endeavor. People are the ones putting the value to anything here and even a slightly bad project can go to the "moon" when there are a critical number of real people pushing it up to stratosphere. Now, how much more if the project is really good and supported by millions of people...that would be lovely and terrific.

I attended the last edition in Singapore , but I don't think I'll attend this year's edition due to a professional course I'm taking. But I've got buddies attending so I'll hear from them ahah. Sure it's an event where the big players in crypto are tbh and it's always fun..

Do you think you can be sponsored to this event? That'll be really cool haha..

How I wish that I can that event too and can have some vacation on  Dubai. But that place is expensive for me and I just cant go there without having that much on my pocket money. Some local token events are good to attend to and I am happy that the local crypto community in my country is thriving.

Well, I won't be attending, as a matter of fact, I've never been out of my country ones but I pray I find opportunity to indeed travel out soon, I've once been to a crypto meetup organized and hosted by a group of crypto enthusiasts here in my country and I must say that it was amazing and fun, I meet alot of new people and made quite a few new crypto friends from there, and since then, I've been looking forward to attending such an event again but non have shown up, and I myself don't have the financial capacity to organize one myself.

It's indeed a great idea to sometimes hang out in such event as the Token 2049, but unfortunately for persons like myself, it's very expensive to be there now, but hopefully, by the time future events like this will come up again, I believe many of us must have made good money to be able to easily afford to be there.

When it comes to a topic like is there a lot of things that you need to take into consideration before making some certain conclusions. To start with these kind of events are actually prominent in country is where crypto is accepted as a means of payments or is legally accepted.

This is because in a country where crypto is regarded as illegal you wouldn't actually expect this kind of events to be frequent and most terms even if they are held they are done more like in a secret setting to prevent governmental issues.

never been in a crypto gathering. there use to be one gathering that i wanted to attend but then i have to drive very far and i have no other friends who would come with me. if only there are events like this Token2049 in my area i would be the first to come.

there are just one problem that i and taking it seriously.  like being anonymous in space. attending something like this would mean compromising being anonymous correct?

For some of us who are not financially buoyant for the trip, you would have to state the exchange and project that are sponsoring the event so that those of us who want to go can apply for it. Who knows, we may be lucky to go for the event "Token 2049'' to be hosted in Dubai. However, the event will be nice to attend, meet great minds to interact and connect with about crypto

Surely not. If it was a BTC meetup, then i could consider that, but what is Token 2049, a meetup to discuss about what token? I am not interested. Privacy is a good reason why people prefer to network over the internet, it is a safe space were they can stay anonymous if they know exactly what they are doing.

When I saw token 2049, I thought it’s a meetup that is going to happen in the year 2049, not knowing it’s a token meetup. Like others, I don’t also have any need to go for that and if I have any then it’ll just have to be me having that resources to go which I can’t afford. Meetups like that are very good and it doesn’t mean you have to be a certain lover of bitcoin, altcoin or memecoin. The main idea is to get to meet and network with like minds that you share the same aspirations and goals with. Many may attend and are just more focused in Bitcoin, that doesn’t mean they won’t show interest in what they’re there for, they could make new connections that will be good for their own self development in the crypto space.

Cool to meet people with same interest tbh. Its like having new contacts where you can ask some tips and whats to come for the project you all are into.

I use to join a group of people playing same online game, its a massive learning step for you when you get to learn from them what to do. Its a support group that you can rely on, you will be making friends as the same time.

Those styles are not far from networking or MLM (multilevel marketing), because usually those who attend or attend events like what you are saying are just looking for new people to meet in person who will become their prospects or add to their connections.

Then those are the ones who are involved with people who have enough budget or funds but for people like me, it is not practical on my part, besides the distance and the expenses for accommodation are also quite high for sure.

For a new group being introduced to crypto, it could serve them well if they network and meet others at events, exhibitions and conferences. There are others that found their way to crypto years ago and maybe prefer to keep away from events as they have already invested and se no need to network.

I don't think the title of the meet up has anything to do with any particular coins/tokens, not sure is even bitcoin as a coin, but it could be generally a forum to meet crypto friends globally.
Some of these meet up are meant to share knowledge and explore ways to learning new ideas, get some new innovations, interact with experts on the areas of interest etc. It is actually a meet up for general crypto discussions not specific to only Bitcoin but on other altcoins.

Since crypto is illegal in my country so i can't attend any crypto events and honestly i should never do it. However, if i get the chance to do so while traveling to a country then i might attend. Also, I'm not that lucky in crypto terms which is why I'm not looking at sponsorships. I think it's important for events like this to be attended by those who are truly millionaires and have been in the crypto world for a long time. It would be great to be able to attend such an event and meet great minds to talk about crypto and make connections. I am truly sad that the big question that remains for me about the acceptability of crypto is something i always have to follow.
