Best competitors to Ethereum?

Ethereum's best competitor in Altcoin is Ripple. But for the real competitor in the Crypto world this is Bitcoin. For me Ethereum has many competitors because the coins are good and reliable. On the other hand Ethereum is currently down and while this is inferior to Ripple. But in the future Ethereum will be able to defeat Ripple again.
