I think so long as retailers are fine with the price volatility, then it should be fine for them.  I don't see a bigger adoption of bitcoin because of the price volatility personally, but there's always an angle people can play.  Especially with the market so low, retailers could just view it as a cheaper means of getting more bitcoin before the price swells again.
