If what you're saying is true, they committed the great mistake. Ripple's XRP has already proven its potential and it's favor and supported by banks as compared to the newly born ICOs they had nothing yet to prove. I recall one smart contract developer in the other forum once said, "Out of every 100 projects 99 is a fraud, or a scam, as we used to call it." So, if I were to invest I prefer the old one that already proven its potentials.
