Bitcoin as a virtual decentralized currency is mostly used online on cryptocurrency space . I do not think other online outlets accept it a medium of payment for goods and services.
It's widespread adoption is still low and that is what needs to be work on and I can see many upcoming projects addressing it.
Soon ,we will be able to buy goods and services using bitcoin.

The U.S. state of Ohio has set up a cryptocurrency payment portal and reportedly starts accepting payments in bitcoin for 23 types of taxes this week. “Ohio has become the first state in the United States, and one of the first governments in the world, to accept cryptocurrency,” the Treasurer’s Office wrote.
That's awesome bitcoin as an online payment on the real world and i think it will be followed by other sectors.

I agree with that and I am very supportive and happy to hear it. Bitcoin is indeed intended to be able to create good digital money and function as a means of payment or transaction tool. for me Bitcoin is more profitable than fiat money, because transactions are cheaper, more effective and efficient. Bitcoin as a decentralized virtual currency is mostly used for the purpose of business  transaction in the crypto space .
It is yet to be generally accepted by the public, reason it can't be used for payments outside of the crypto space.

We really need that widespread adoption of Bitcoin seriously and we do need some basic educations about this kind
of technology to educate people that are willing to learn about cryptocurrencies.
I already used Bitcoin several times as a medium of payment for bills and other types of online stuff like gaming
items on some platforms that accept Bitcoin as a payment medium and it really goes well and fast.
