The basis for exchange traded funds will be based on futures that are traded on the CME and the CBOE, and not the assets themselves, according to CoinDesk.

                                     

The first application for the launch of cryptocurrency ETF ProShares was sent in September last year. Then the company admitted that the market is not yet ready for this investment instrument. In the spring of 2018 has reported that the SEC began to study the proposal for the Bitcoin ETF and Short the Bitcoin ETF from ProShares.

At the moment, the securities and exchange Commission has not approved any such application, it rejected the proposal of the Winklevoss brothers and postponed the meeting on the exchange of funds from the companies VanEck and SolidX.
