Some projects require KYC in order to identify the user and protect yourself from a large number of spammers. If for a bounty company in which you participate and it inspires confidence in you, this is acceptable (since you spent a lot of time and effort), then for example an airdrop I consider that it is not really necessary to prove that you are a real person and give personal data.
