The United Arab Emirates’ Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) is gearing up to introduce regulations for initial coin offerings (ICOs) in the first half of 2019. The decision to establish a dedicated regulatory framework for digital token sales is aimed at providing startups in UAE with the option to raise capital through crowdfunding, local news outlet The National reported.

According to the publication, the SCA has already recognized tokens issued in coin offerings as securities and will work with the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange and Dubai Financial Market to develop trading platforms for ICOs next year.

Yes . I think the rate ICos are going now, it would be massively adopted in future which will be a good development to the blockchain technology as more and more people are getting involved.

If ICO's reputation is still on the right way, it can be adopted massively on the future. But I am a little pessimistic with the current problems on ICOs, it can deface the good name of ICOs. Scam and fake team issues should be handled and solved to prevent the ICOs.

The Securities and Commodities Authority(SCA) of the UAE is set to formulate a robust regulatory framework for all things initial coin offerings(ICOs), cryptoassets exchanges and all other crypto-related businesses. 

Per a Finance Magnates report, the regulatory watchdog has hinted that ICO-generated tokens would be classified as securities and regulated as such.

Yes I think crypto currency is the future currency,  ICO will be addoptes by mass addoption at the coming future.  I think it will happen.

The European Banking Authority (EBA) and the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) have both published reports, January 9, calling for a European Union-wide approach to cryptocurrency and ICO regulation to help ensure investor protection.

The EBA's results of its assessment of European Union (EU) laws and how they relate to crypto assets found that "a significant portion of activities involving crypto-assets do not fall within the scope of the current EU financial services law." The EBA believes this lacuna in EU legislation leaves the door open for consumer protection issues to arise, and may create an uneven playing field amongst members of the union.

The report provides an example of this: Belgium's ban on the selling and trading of non-mainstream or non-standard assets, such as derivatives based on cryptocurrencies. The EBA says the UK is looking at a similar prohibition, but because regulations aren't uniform across the EU, companies may opt to run their businesses in more loosely regulated parts of the EU, creating a disadvantage for EU countries with stricter regulations.

With the actual chaos on the ICO ecosystem, it is a fact that we need regulations, nevertheless I'm not sure if the ICO model will subsist, it allows too much scam and bad management... If we think about it, the regulation alone can't do everything, outside the crypto world, everything is regulated and we see too many scams, payoffs, corruption, money laundry, etc...

I agree. Regulation, cannot stop scams and other illegal practices, because, all of these happen, outside of cryptocurrency which is regulated for years. Only education and knowledge can prevent you from scams. You have to educate yourself, to find scam projects and avoid them.

In my opinion, that's something good. Given, in the past, too many ICOs ended in fraud. So that it has a negative effect on cryptocurrency. And it should, for the authorities, make regulations, so that they can narrow the space for fraudsters
