Does bitcoin control the market?

For now bitcoin is very influential on altcoin, because almost all pairs are connected to bitcoin. But in the next few years bitcoin may be displaced by other coins with newer technology with faster and cheaper transactions and safer.

I partially disagree with this. I have studied prices of coins and tokens on CMC and the fluctuations of each currency seems to be unique and independent of any other digital currency. Some show strong pumps when BTC goes down and some heavy dumps when BTC is rising.

Undoubtedly, there are market forces and factors which affects most currencies, this is not influenced by bitcoins price, it rather controls bitcoins' price as well as others.
So when trading or investing, make sure you treat each currency differently as they have different utilities.

In my opinion  I think not bitcoin manipulating the market but those big whales I guess. We really dont know what are their plan for cryptocurrency or when they will put again their big funds on crypto. It might be they are awaiting for the very low price of the market, especially in bitcoin before they enter again in crypto.

I think demand and supply is the basic major which control the market.  But Bitcoin price also affect the value of all altcoins.

Yes right now the marketcap of bitcoin its aroud 52%of total marketcap, conform coinmarketcap,its most popular coin and used coin in the world.
Indifferent in witch direction the price of btc will go will affect all altcoins.
