How Do You Explain?
« on: October 23, 2018, 01:09:23 PM »
When asked by friends or relatives who are new to crypto, how do you explain bitcoin in one or two sentence/s?
Something that they can have a general idea what is it all about without having their mind blown.

I usually use lines like this:
"Imagine sending money without having to pay fees to third parties..............."

I think thay is hard question to be answer. Bitcoin has vast meaning that cant be explain in two to three words. I suggest you keep on feeding them the right information and soon enough they will understand it little by little.

Satoshi Nakamoto.
Of course anyone who hear this name will ask who is he? Then that will be the time to explain every necessary details about bitcoin and its purpose.

It is. That's why I start with something that they can relate with before inserting something about bitcoin.

I socialize with people  by explaining the benefits of using bitcoin and usually they are interested in all access facilities at low cost
So how do you start explaining then?

Satoshi Nakamoto.

Care to explain how you do it?

what come first in my mind is " Bitcoin is the most expensive coin in the cryptocurrency world. " I know many details about bitcoin but bitcoin is familiar to most of the people for its sudden price bump up.

In my opinion, it is difficult to explain. I give my friends links to articles, where there is a good explanation.

This could increase their curiosity about bitcoin even more.

It really is. Especially to non-technical people. Perhaps you can also share your links here.

I explained to the beginners by giving examples directly to practice, if only theory is difficult to accept. Because learning cryptocurrency is not as easy as just learning theory.

Imagine a virtual currency that does not to be supported by the governments, cause it's supported by people.

This is a long discussion.  It's hard to answer in two three sentences. But my answer will be "online money which changes its value every moment "

I think the best way to explain is to first find out what people know about crypto/bitcoin first, in order to explain what they don't know. Since 2018, pretty much everyone has heard of crypto, but everyone's understanding is varied and different. It's not like many years ago when almost nobody had heard of it.

I tell them that it is asset but it is not material. It has some value but you cannot touch it as it exists only in internet world. I know that it is concept that is very hard to be accepted especially with older people who have not much of computer and Internet knowledge

One more, imagine the way to pay for things with no 3rd parties involved - no governments, no banks, and your money is truly yours
