As for it being difficult to get karma, I don't agree. I don't have access to the logs, but I know there are quite a few users who are generous with karma. The important thing is to be useful to obtain it. Learn from others, help others, patience. Karma points and the next rank will come by themselves.

I dont have a notebook and pen to write exact time, date and member I give someone positive or negative karma, and I cant check that in my profile, so I dont see any use for karma now.

i can turn off karma, but if i do it will be for all
on this forum we try to frequently repeat that this is a friendly forum
fights do break out for various reasons, but we emphasise on the necessity to contain them and move on, no need to hold grudges and drag fights for ever.
karma is for this reason very important.
you have a fight negative karma is exchanged, and then if you move on, additional negative karma will be labelled abuse
if the fight is continuously fed, creating bigger and bigger drama, then negative karma will keep flowing , hence motivating the opposing sides to burry the hatches and move on.

If according to you the Karma system does not work at all, the solution should be to improve it, not disable it. I don't think it's necessary to write down who, when and where we grant Karma (positive or negative) to another user, I think it's better to forget it at the time we do it. The best thing for the forum and the users is that the Karma system continues to work as before.

The reason I asked you was to find out if you were giving -karma for the right reason(s), which helped to find out that your reasoning was basically "don't like users post". In case it's not obvious this is not the designated reason for smiting users (see the original post in this topic for when negative karma should be given). You otherwise weren't punished at all and instead warned about karma abuse, to avoid any potential issues in the future.

To clarify repeatedly giving a user -karma, because for example they repeatedly break the forum rules, is not karma abuse - it would instead be correct issuance of karma. Giving -karma for the wrong reasons is problematic, and repeatedly targeting the same user with -karma for the wrong reasons is abusing your karma issuance. Ultimately it's up to you how you distribute your karma, but worth remembering it's a privilege not a right and should be done responsibly.

If you don't feel you can be responsible with it I recommend you don't use the function. Everyone else seems to manage ok with it so I don't see what the problem is personally.

we just ask to not abuse negative karma.
giving the same user negative karma in a repetitive way is an abuse.
i understand you gave 2-5 times consecutively but more, it becomes a bit too much.

You can use polite words when discussing in the public and most likely with admin. And I can see that admin has been discussing with you politely and explaining things for you. The Karma system is easy to understand. When your posts are good people will give you karma and when they are not then people might give you negative karma and also negative karma can be given to someone who has bad behaviour in the forum. And negative and positive karma log is not showing because it is to avoid drama in the forum because if you see someone who gives you negative karma, you create problem with the person either indirectly or directly. So it is good in this way. And admin had said he will make the log visible for some key users in the forum. Mods, Presidents and others so if you have any issue about karma, you can ask any of them to review your karma log. And for now I think it is only admin and presidents have the access to the log.

notblox1 got a warning for the misuse of negative karma and is dissatisfied with that. He understands how to deal with karma but wants to have a right to use it in his own way. It is not okay, karma usage should be reasoned, both positive and negative. Most users don't abuse the system, but some try to check the karma system for strength. This happens...

Earlier (before the last dramas), I gave - karma to posts that may not have been obvious spam but were useless or just a repetition of something that was already said in previous posts but with different words. It is almost certain that it was just filling out the signature quote.

If you gave -1 to a user for a post you considered crap that's not going to be an issue overall. We're not reviewing every -1 here, only targeted -/+ karma towards a specific user, from a specific user. Negative karma should otherwise be for disruptive posts at a minimum, such as those intended to game the system or breaking forum rules, not just poor quality posts.

If in doubt don't smite others, that's my motto

If someone gave a -1 because thought someone's post was bad, it’s not a huge deal. Will not scrutinise every -1; only look into patterns of targeted karma, whether it's positive or negative, between specific users. Generally, negative karma should be reserved for posts that are disruptive—like trying to game the system or breaking forum rules—rather than just low-quality content.

When in doubt, it’s better not to downvote others.

Think of this type of post as a reply, so when you come across several of these in a row, it's a bit tiring. OK, maybe I oversimplified things here, but I hope that what I'm trying to explain is understandable.
Here, it would be useful to see which post received negative (or positive) karma so that the person who wrote the post would recognize the poor quality of his post.

Sorry guys but I have to say that more time goes on the more I don't like this karma system with all it's limiations.
I don't think that bitcointalk merit system is perfect, but it works much better and it's more transparent than karma here.
Until someone makes some suggestions for improvements I will probably pause my use of karma (for now).
