Holding ethereum is a good idea, it's one coin that has great potentials, it's smart contract base...  many ERC20  tokens are based on ethereum smart contract. Ethereum is king of ico and altcoins, most ICo's use ethereum platform for their projects so it has numerous potentials. The price as at now is discouraging but I believe the market will pick up soon.
