If you are getting good bonus while investing then it wouldn't be a bad choice but always do proper research before investment but I believe buying evergreen altcoins is much better option to avoid the risk factor but we should check new coins as well sometime these new coins can also give good return in shorter time but it depends on project vision or implementation.

ICOs have a new face of method now. It is called IEO, in tjis current time, most people are more interested to join in an IEO rather than ICO. Why? Cause of the relief they can get on investing. Exchange already helps the market differentiate legit and scam and the only problem of the investors is the chance to pick which one should be a good money machine. Some still preferred ICO but  be always cautious with these since theit platform can be created by a geek IT or computer expert.

Buying coins when the price is low at ICO is indeed advantageous because the developers give a lot of discounts of up to 40% to investors, but when you choose the wrong altcoin, I mean after hardcap is reached, this is where investors will wait for the coin to be registered in a good exchange or not.

I agree with you we must learn more about the fundamental of aspects of ICOs projects before making investment in ICOs projects even in alternatives coins them selves, because we must know about the developer of team, the community of projects/altcoins, the product related with ICOs projects or alternatives coins, we must know everything related with ICOs and altcoins to get the profit from it.

the number of ico doesn't reach hardcap very much because most investors have abandoned ico's investment, because in early 2018 there are still many ico scams so it is better to avoid investing in the ico project, IEO is the latest solution but it is not necessarily better.
